So far, the biggest media and gamer attention and debates has been seeing if BF4 could run faster under Mantle, as it's touted as being more "bare-metal" in terms of closer compatibility with the PC hardware, and should translate to better performance compared to Microsoft's DirectX.
Those with AMD R7 and R9 GPUs are the ones soon to be able to reap Mantle's benefits from supported games.

Since this is a common problem, if you cant run the mantle version of Star Swarm you may need to disable your processor's integrated graphics. (you can turn them back on afterwards)

And this is the reason why this video miss a lot, they do not understand why Mantle exist. They use a 3960X which is high-end CPU, even at 2ghx, it is still more powerful then most AMD CPU and older i3 CPU. They even say that there is no market for low-end CPU... Really??? Mantle is made for: Weak CPU + Beefy GPU Strong CPU + Multiple Highest-end GPU Finally, on Mantle usefulness, it is a great new tech and might bring AMD back in the market if all goes well. Even if the performance boost is only 10%, people have bought new video card for this increase. |
