Now that's more like it. After the first arc, I was worried the series wasn't going to hit the same heights as the first season, but no, it's just that book 4 really sucked. Now that we've got Akane, Rokujo and Vorona in play, things are looking up.

Spoiler for plot:

Izaya & soul report..
Shizuo got an interesting complaint.
Picking a fight with someone like Shizuo is not a smart thing to do.
Poor guy had no idea what he was getting into.
That chat room seems like mindless chatter..
Guess it's a good place to get info.
Shizuo got an interesting tag along...
Dollars just got a crazy opponent & so did Celty.

The adorable assassin made her move . No matter how odd that kid is, if it was anyone but Shizuo that situation wouldn't have turned out so well. Poor guy getting stuck with this kid hanging on telling him to die...

Shizuo had a pretty busy time this episode. A gang leader straight up picking a fight with him had to be pretty refreshing. I guess there haven't been people stupid enough to fight him head on since high school. Though you have to give the opponent credit. I mean to take 4 punches from Shizuo and not be dead is kind of a badge of honor.

Headless decapitations? Botched assassination attempts by a loli in board daylight no less? Yakuza hiring Celty for peculiar job involving said loli? Oncoming gang war? Dollars supposedly going berserk and picking fights in Saitama? Yeah, vacation is over alright.

One has to wonder how much of Izaya's hand is all of this? Especially given the subject of his monologue...

In anycase, I'm just happy to see Akane, Chikage and Vorona finally animated.

True enough, after all you don't beat Shizuo, you try to survive. This guy has been attacked twice in two days by random people he doesn't know.

Ah one of my favorite characters is here. Will be fun to see what happens with Akane and Shizuo. She's adorable.

Animation got better outside of a couple of lazy cuts. Namie's narration was...interesting. Good set-up episode. Rokujo held up well. Not as good as Touma though. Things are getting good.

You know I also have say that like how refreshingly self-aware Chikage's harem is, especially when they constantly poke fun at his faults. They come acroos as wanting to hang out around him because they want to.

Why didn't I expect the loli to be crazy? This is Durarara, I should have known better

Anyway, when Izaya starts the episode by saying the game shave begun, you know things are gonna get ugly, and there you go. A set up episode, but its clear things are going to get serious really fast; another gang has a beef with the dollars, but this time their leader is not an angsty moron, pretty tough (less than a third of Touma's resilience, but still), and pretty weird in a good way (even though his own harem deems him a loser of sorts ); a hot Russian assassin is after Celty's... well, after Celty, and some some crazy little girl is on the loose. And I don't think Izaya has even done anything yet!

Oh right, and Namie is the queen of messed up in Ikebukuro, in case you had forgotten.

It look like the loli is going to be fun to watch, I also think the same for Chikage. I t look like trouble is coming to the Dollars.

Akane seems pretty fun and you gotta love how it ends with Shizuo running from the police while having a loli hanging to him telling him to die.

Also Chikage seems to have a pretty self aware harem. He's also pretty tough to take 4 punches from Shizuo.

An alright episode. Loli assassin was cute, and it was nice to see Shizuo get a bit of spotlight outside of "IIIIZZZZAAAAYYYYAAAAAAAA!!!!" and swinging random large objects around. I can already tell that whatever Aoba is planning has to do with that biker gang coming to town, but for what purpose, I don't know =0\. Wouldn't have an idea as to how someone on technically a self-discovery trip(or honeymoon) would know of potential shenanigans going on in a town that's far away from him, but I guess it'll be explained in due time.

Shizuo now joins the Index Main Character trio in the set of characters in anime who I denote as the "Badasses with lolis". I must know her name.

Namie was the most pointless and yet most hilarious narrator I've seen for this series thus far.

I wonder now, since both Kamachi and Narita joined forces in a handful of projects, was the plan to give a loli to a destructive character like Shizuo inspired by the interactions between Last Order and Accelerator?

Another question: why the heck is Akane so cute for someone so deadly?

After seeing how the new Index volume's summary reminds a lot of people of a DRRR plot, I am now partially convinced that Kamachi and Narita sit over coffee and share plot ideas.
