i will post my review of ch1 here and let the other thread be closed, this one was done earlier

Ch1

i dont like it!!

the very first beginning had something with a boy being kissed by other boys or something like that (and that with tongue),

and than the kids are older,

stuff happens,
MC loves a girl and confesses,

than lightning hits him and he has a body of a big breasted girl (basically Hilgas (or whatever her name was) body)...

so this is a gender bender story which i absolutely HATE!

gender bender is something for hentai and should NEVER be used in a serious story

^i like gender bender too, but only in hentais OR in storys that are solely romance (i dont read them either, in short i avoid basically any non-hentai gender bender storys, like bokugirl or kampfer)

in any case, the author already had a fairly nice battle shounen, why not doing it again? (it is sad how the "trying to be serious" battle shounens get axed and the romance+comedy or the gag mangas can publish for 80+ chapters )

Bokugirl is romance though and it is quite good for a genderbender. Too bad it hasn't gotten any translations lately...

As for Hungry Marie, I liked it so far for what it is: A remix of Beelzebub Characters with a clearer focus on romance than pure battle comedy ala Beelzebub. We got Anna who is an Aoi/Hilda mix where you clearly see when she is in Hilda mode and when in Aoi mode. A Furuichi/Kanzaki mix as best friend for MC Taiga who is Oga with less Oga and more feels/emotions. Also less baby beel.

We got confession and genderchange in the first chapter and dayum is Taiga pretty as little Hilda, I mean, Marie. xD

Here's to see how Taiga changes his gender, probably has to do with hunger, and how it affects him. Given the whole revive the dead there is some sort of magic in this sorta world plus Taiga knows kung-fu and his older classmates want him for their battles, so there surely will be fighting.

Question is if Tamura is able to do romance well and keeping comedy up high mixed with some nice battles in it as well. The whole "my lovestory" being said twice once with Taiga and once with Taiga as Marie means we gonna see lots of comedy in terms of boys falling in love with Marie and Taiga trying to get together with Anna which ofc won't work else the manga is over so there will be other girls crushing on Taiga.

Next couple chapters should answer how Tamura intends to keep Hungry Marie rolling.

Well this is suprising,to think that there is a manga that levelSeven dislikes. I was always under impression that you are capable of liking anything, no matter how good (or bad) it is. I guess people have different tastes after all...

The chapter itself was pretty awesome, quite a good start. Comedy was really hilarious too (especially lightning strike and chicken legs). As for characters, it's pretty much as James Rye said. They feel familiar, yet still different and I like them a lot (especially Taiga seems like Oga with romantic bone and less Oga inside him, and he's also a straight man to boot). Genderbender at the end caught me off guard, but if it's executed well, I'm expecting it to be hilarious.
To sum up, I liked what I saw, and will be back for more.

so Tamura kept the gender bender from the previously Oneshot, maybe he'll also use the monster transformation, a bit like Ranma 1/2

My thoughts in order:

1. YES! Beelzebub's mangaka!
2. YES! Romance! (Sucker for romance)
3. YES! Battle manga!
4. YES! Gender Ben--.... wait, what? (Not my cup of tea).

I'm feeling so conflicted right now. Still, its the best "First Chapter" out of the new ones so far.

Gender Bender genre turned me off. I didn't read it yet but is it like Ranma 1/2?

I will not put any high expectation for this especially after his latest work Beelzebub.

The beginning of the Beelzebub is great but I don't know why in the end, it got jumped into a shark. Maybe because it tried to forced it to become a battle manga.

Hard to evaluate after just one chapter but amusing enough so far. Will take a few chapters to figure out just where the series is going though.

For me, the penultimate and final arcs are not that good.

comedy? check
decent, the author knack is there
romance? check
i remember the shipping war between Hilda vs Aoi
Battle? check
the abysmal in beelzebub, heavily reek of shounen cliche, i still remember the ridiculous when Oga fought that leviathan general, damn annoying to remember.

The first chapter wasn't impressive at all and doesn't provide a good "first impression" about the story, obviously this has a lot of room to improve considering this comes from the same author of Beelzebub and that was already pretty good except for the way how it ended.

As for the genderbender, I have no issues with it. Boku Girl was funny enough to keep me interested on checking each chapter every monday until the end despite the way how it was rushed the last arc, I just hope that Tamura manage this topic in the same way, that means, a perfect balance between comedy/fanservice/development.
