Not HunterXHunter ? And the movie would make me think of "Shaolin Soccer" but that wasn't gorey at all so that must not be it .

Havent watch an anime in awhile but this one caught my attention with it's unusual combination of premise. Despite Kanna's cute lil girl appearance, she sure tamed Saikawa quickly with a sneaky teary moe attack.

Hope to see more of Fafnir's and Lucoa's personality and quirks since the last few episode have mostly focused on Tohru and Kanna.

This show is just so damned adorable. I'm definitely going to read the manga for this too, because I love the characters so much and want to see more!

I plan to read the manga as well. But that would be after finishing the anime.. don't want to get spoiled on some of the jokes.

Something unusual is discovered. Maidragon Blu Ray and DVD are actually on sale in the KyoAni online store. This is not normally done, and lends credence that KyoAni had invested their own money into the anime and as such take a share of the disc sales. This despite not being the IP owner.

First episode in English dub is out. I'm liking it. Both Kobayashi and Toru sound appropriate. The little chatter we get from Fafnir and Lucoa also sound good, too.

Episode 5:

Haha, Tohru's fantasy delusions revolving around Kobayashi just never ends.

I kinda like how this episode goes into more depth about Kobayashi's life at work. Her chief/boss is annoying tbh. I think his personality pissed off Torhu quite a bit. I mean who can blame her? I can't help but laugh when Tohru trolls him.

Riko's fangirling for Kanna is pretty amusing still. Kids these days..
Kanna's curiosity about the human world never ceases to amuse me. This week, psychic spoon bending!

And the prize for this episode most moe characters goes to:
Fafnir-san!!!!
For his amazing play in the scene where he want to enter to Takiya house to play games.

I worry about Saikawa's health if she doesn't become more accustomed to Kana's cuteness. Saikawa sure does seem to be a prototype of the main character in another of Kool's mangas.

@RW: The joke about Tohru having Fafnir's papers would have worked better if they hadn't skipped the joke about Tohru producing Kana's papers in the previous episode.

Still loving this adaptation. KyoAni is making it look so easy.

Ep 05

The scene where Tohru teleports into the mystery box onstage is absolutely one of my favorite scenes in the source manga - in general the studio did a good job adapting it, but this is definitely one of those times when the weird art style of the mangaka is more effective in conveying the humor for me.

Then again, that art style would probably not cross over into the anime medium very well, so six to one, half dozen to the other kinda thing, I think. ^^

That aside, one thing I DO appreciate is how effective KyoAni has been at conveying the more thoughtful musings and reflections from the series, like the conversation between Fafnir and Tohru in this episode. They are really hitting the bullseye on that regard in my opinion.

I have to say it does show how reasonable Tohru is that she didn't actually murder that stupid chief. It actually kind of feeds nicely into the discussion with Tohru and Fafnir. If she ends up going back to her world some day....will she be ok? Not randomly killing people in this world makes sense, but in her own world they are deadly enemies. It showed remarkable restraint for Tohru to simply trip that guy instead of wiping him from the face of the Earth.

And while it has only been 2 months since Tohru and Kobayashi met...it is never too early to touch on the standard problem. No doubt that Tohru will live well beyond Kobayashi's lifespan and it does bring up the question of what she'll do after that. She may not intend to go home right now, but who knows what she might do in the future.

On a lighter note, nice job using those hilarious Kanna scenes to cut between the different parts of the episode. She absolutely has that poor girl wrapped around her finger.

Yeah I can see Kobayashi drawing the line at having Fafnir stay there. Plus it does fit better to have him stay with her coworker. He did only come to this world to play video games after all .

Its sad that we are reminded of Kobayashi's life span is prolly only a tiny fraction of Tohru's.

The manga never really pushed Kobayashi and Tooru's relationship that hard from a romantic angle, but Kyoani's putting some subtle but real developments in that aspect. One of the many positive anime-only alterations that the studio is doing for this story.

So did Tohru engineer the video that resulted in the obnoxious manager being fired? I'm guessing she did, but it wasn't really made clear.

I had the same reaction to the conversation between Tohru and Kobayashi outside her office. It was brief but subtle and somewhat moving. The score helped with that, too.

And now we have learned that Kobayashi-san is

I'm waiting for the next block of code to begin

It's implied Kobayashi's the one who did it.

Tooru is handy to have around at work tripping the boss when he yells at you
