The official twitter account said they feel a surprise happening this weekend. Given that there's a showing Saturday, we could have some news this weekend. I'm gambling that this is the proper thread for this news.

The surprise was Kanae Itou appearing at the showing tonight.

Supervisor Ando mentioned that he is about halfway through writing the scenario and storyboards for Home Sweet Home. He's currently writing the turning point of the story. There's lots of big events planned for Ohana and he hopes Itou's talent is up for the test.

Is that still in collaboration with Okada or is he all alone now?
Any hints on if it's a movie or OVA?

DAMMIT!

I is very dissappoint because:

1. Movies tend to be too short and end abruptly.
2. Have to wait 6 months after it airs in theatres for the DVD/Blurays.

/nerdrage because of sparkles withdrawal

Website updated today with a new key visual:

They also list the staff and cast for the movie. Everyone's back! (Both main staff and cast)

1. And TV series can go on too long and come to a crawl before it ends.
2. Lets be reality, this is the real reason lol.

Anyway lets see if P.A Works can step up to movie quality animation, and hopefully their next tv series sees an improvement similar to Disappearance > K-ON!! where it was obvious KyoAni where still using a lot of movie techniques throughout.

Ahh so they're making a movie instead, I don't know how to feel about this since I don't know what it's about.

Agreed. This series was far from perfect, but I truly miss it a lot. I always had a lot of fun watching it every week.

I need more Nako NAO ;_;

I miss having polarising reactions (either fanboy or total rage ) every week.

A film is good because then the whole focus is on a main storyline without any of that extra side fluff that polarized so many (unless the whole film is one entire side fluff).

And I want more Ohana...

Needs more Iroha period (which includes Ohana ofc ). A 2h or so movie is insufficient . Though yeh, my main concern is the uber long wait time. Have to wait till this airs + 6 months for the bluray/dvd...

This is a good thing. I really don't think they could really make a consistent story that would last 2 cours (well they didn't even do that the first time around) and it showcases this series as an eye candy one which is one of its stronger points.

Plus more Ohana is good and all, and seeing her in movie quality will be great. I think in retrospect she's within my top 10-15 female characters or so and it's nice to see more of her even if I don't really like her show that much.

She looks fantastic in that poster.

Just caught up on this thread.

I'm also a bit disappointed that this is a movie because much of the charm of HSI for me was the weekly anticipation, and discussions. HSI's week-to-week quality was so very variable that each week it was like opening up a box of chocolates, you really didn't know what you were going to get. That, combined with the polarized nature of the viewer-base, made HSI discussion pretty fun (kind of like what Aquarion EVOL discussion is like now, lol).

That being said, a movie probably is the most natural extension of this property, because without a significant time-skip it's hard for me to see how they could get another two cours out of this cast. I mean, they did just about everything they could with Ohana and crew as high school students.

It'll also be interesting to see how P.A. Works does with a movie. If it's successful, this could cement P.A. Works shifting into being one of the "big boys" of the anime studio world.
