Does it make a whole lot of difference if I get a used version from Amazon?

For casual use, I find GIMP to be just wonderous for image manipulation -- its free (open source).

I'm almost curious as to what kind of dystopian future...but that can be for a day to ponder about things.

Here's an exemple

Quote:
The survivors had little food and no source of heat in the harsh conditions at over 3,600 metres (11,800 ft) altitude. Faced with starvation and radio news reports that the search for them had been abandoned, the survivors fed on the dead passengers who had been preserved in the snow. Rescuers did not learn of the survivors until 72 days after the crash when passengers Nando Parrado and Roberto Canessa, after a 10-day trek across the Andes, found a Chilean huaso, who gave them food and then alerted authorities about the existence of the other survivors.
Quote:
At high altitude, the body's caloric needs are astronomical ... we were starving in earnest, with no hope of finding food, but our hunger soon grew so voracious that we searched anyway ...again and again we scoured the fuselage in search of crumbs and morsels. We tried to eat strips of leather torn from pieces of luggage, though we knew that the chemicals they'd been treated with would do us more harm than good. We ripped open seat cushions hoping to find straw, but found only inedible upholstery foam ... Again and again I came to the same conclusion: unless we wanted to eat the clothes we were wearing, there was nothing here but aluminium, plastic, ice, and rock

Anyone familiar with brewing wine/alcohol? My Chinese friend wants to make 85% alcohol, he says he has everything except this device which is a 2 layered vessel where supposedly something evaporates and drips to the outer layer? He explained it to me in chinese which I'm terrible at and I have no idea what he's talking about.

He's making it out of rice wine and looking for something that makes the alcohol concentrated I think?

He wants to buy that container he talked about but he hasn't yet learned English so he doesn't know how to go about looking for where to buy it. Which is why he asked me to help but I'm clueless.

*confused*

You can not 'brew' something with 85% alc.
For that you have to distill it, which I guess would be part of the name of that mysterious device.
There are a lot of different techniques to get the water out of your wine/beer.

Pick one:

Which part of the head are you supposed to shoot for certain death.

I heard that you can't just shoot anywhere on the head, if you do that it's possible they won't die and just end up with permanent brain damage.

Destroyed brain stem and midbrain will pretty much guarantee death. Most of the cerebral structures aren't completely required to be biologically alive.

Also, 85%? Are you trying to moonshine your way to perforated stomachs?

So where exactly would this be? If you were pointing a gun at somebody, where exactly would you point it to hit this certain place?

Front: At the top of the bridge of the nose.
Side: Above the ear
Back: At the top of the crevice between the two tendons that go down to your neck.

Or you use a grenade. Then it doesn't matter.

If you using a rifle or even a handgun with an extremely high muzzle velocity, remember the round will only need to pass near the vital regions to cause excessive trauma due to the shock wave of the impact.

Sometimes the worst of a bullet wound isn't even the wound canal but the flesh that's been effected the the ripple of the bullet's passing.

You can also try to make someone suffer fatal brain damage by exposing them to excess of stupidity.
