The live-streamed "Teppen—!!!" program announced on Thursday that a television anime adaptation of the Teppen—!!! (Summit!!!) manga has been green-lit for 2022.

Artist Namamugi and story developer Inujun based the manga on Seiyū San-Shimai Team Y, a unit formed by voice actresses Mikoi Sasaki, Aimi, and Ayasa Itō. The coming-of-age story follows three high school girls who aspire to rise to the summit of the comedy world.

Yayoi Sakamoto, a diehard fan of comedians and comedy acts, enrolls in the private Kazuki High School in Nanba (Osaka's entertainment district famous as the starting point for many comedians). She reunites with Yomogi Takahashi, a childhood friend who once formed the comedy duo "Konamonzu" with her when they were little. Before long, they find themselves putting together a routine at a park like they did before, in order to enter a local shopping area's contest. At that moment, a mysterious girl calls out to them.

This is about... cute girls. The manzai is skipped over, and we have a huge cast of girls introduced in the first episode, just thrown at the audience. And they all have "unique", colorful character traits

Yeah... Hmm... They should have just done an idol anime.

yea, was wondering where the manzai was.
hopefully future episodes will focus on one group per episode, and actually show their routines.

I was looking forward to this show, but now I'm thinking how do you translate or interpret comedy into a differenent language and culture? But I don't think it is the main issue.
The problem is, instead having the joke, story, etc delivered on stage by the talents using their skills, you have most of the act itself animated in this show. It kind of sucks out the reason for having comedy talents live on stage.
Maybe it is a bad idea having something like this animated. It is a nice idea, but you might as well just make a show about girls living in a dormitory that is managed by a male bodybuilder.

Lots of kansai-ben and I kind of like this. Nothing beats manzai done in kansai-ben. Sniggered when the missing door 'joke' came right after the extra door. That one girl who was suggested to be an alien or someone who had encountered aliens (idk how serious to take it) seems out of place. Didn't need that neta.
