I wonder if a lot of problems could have been solved by Gildartz doing this to Laxus when he was younger.

Gildartz is really an amazing man I really respect the author right now, since I know that Gildartz is just a character and not real, but for the author to make a character with such strong and pure personality is really something.

He may be one of the strongest and guiding the ones younger than him, like Natsu whom he is fond off. Still dosent mean he will lose to him

Looks like Gildartz also has a rivalry with Natsu despite there big diffrence in power atm, he still acknowledges Natsu as someone who has it in him to surpass him by far in magic power and strength.

This chapter was simply awesome...Natsu got his pass by his own right, Gildartz was supposed to hold back, so his humiliating defeat was not in the plan. Still, to be able to make Natsu kneel to him and cry, damn he's got the powah! The moral teaching could also be useful to reckless Natsu, who begs for a fight in almost every arc regardless of opponent.
Next chapter: triple length entitled Mest, yumm...

awesome chapter indeed. We see a Natsu openly admitting his defeat.... thought I'd never see that day! This just shows how awesome Gildartz is. I can't imagine how powerful he is. He must be even more powerful than Erza. Wonder whether he might have surpassed the Master though?

and we get three chapters next. Can't wait!

Of course he's more powerful than Erza. Even Laxus and Mystogan agreed that Gildartz was the strongest S rank.

Well I actually didn't expect Natsu to move on, but the way Mashima did it is a lot better than if Natsu was able to beat Gildartz

That's only because anytime he moves, something HAS to be destroyed.

Sounds awfully inconvenient, if I could draw I'd make fanart of Gildartz trying to have a seat or dance xD

Now let's put something else into perspective: we know how much power Gildartz has... and that was with just one arm. So imagine how powerful that black dragon has to be, to beat Gildartz when he had TWO arms

I wonder if that dragon will make an appearance later on... as Final Boss or something

Well obviously the dragon is very strong. It is a dragon after all I expect dragon slayers to have an advantage over Gildartz though for obvious reasons. And I think that the final boss will be Zeref.

I think Zeref will be final boss too, but sadly, he hasn't been mention since before the Tower of Paradise arc...

Although this S-class arc is good, I'm hoping that maybe, just maybe, we'll go back to some of the bugger mysteries, which include Zeref, the vanished dragons, and the interesting date of July 7th, 777

a plot where Lucy ultimately sacrifices herself in etherion magic, following her mother's steps, in order to seal the dragons, and ofc Natsu turning into a full dragon along with the other DS (this has been hinted a lot, and Makarov had said that he already got 3 of them in FT and mentioned a prophecy by Polyushka, probably about the time they all gather in FT) so maaaaybe then, the dragons will reappear (or they will go to them), Zeref will try to control/absorb them/kill them or whatever, then ???? and profit, but definitely with Lucy playing a major role in the fight. This could have a preparation arc of the dark side gathering lacryma-empowered DS in a failed attempt to do their bad stuff, so as to include Ivan in this as well and perhaps make a more brutal and less emotional arc of DS pwnage.

I like it. The idea of Natsu and the other slayers turning into Dragons themselves. In fact, that's probably the stage before a dragon becomes a true dragon. They inherit dragon powers and as their power grows, they turn more and more like a dragon themselves. Notice sometimes that Natsu grows scales, and Igneel already has metallic-like skin, what with the screws on his body. But I don't think Lucy will ever sacrifice herself. Not that she wouldn't try but I think she'll live because I just don't see FT going that dark for a manga. As far as I recall, nobody ever did sacrifice themselves and those who tried still live. Gérard and Makarov are both still alive even tho they sacrificed themselves. There is Gray's master but she's not important to the current storyline so she could be done away with. And there's also the fact that Lucy is essentially the main character since she was the first character we started following. I won't deny Lucy will be playing a major role in the final battle, and for the same reasons I just stated
