Plot driven with next to no romance
I've run out of series to watch, and a lot of what I see of late is not of interest. So what I am looking for is something deeply plot driven. I am a Himono Onna so I find relationship things too bothersome to watch. So I wouldn't mind being recommended something like Darker Than Black (season 1) or Kara no Kyoukai~

Ah well in that case I have been suggested by someone to check out a series called ga-rei zero which I haven't got around to yet but have been told that if you like Teresa's arc in claymore then you would love this series which made me want to watch it as that was my favourite part of claymore also possibly code geass if you haven't seen it yet?

Oh okay, I haven't seen Ga-Rei Zero yet so I can probably look into that. I definitely liked the Teresa arc a lot. I haven't actually seen Code Geass I have been circling that one for a while, I almost watched it a year or so ago. That one evades me a lot~ Thanks~

Death Note, while there is a character who at one point is interested in the MC, it could hardly be called "romance" , and is almost entirely plot driven, highly recommend.
Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica strongly plot driven and only romance between one of the MC's friends, and isn't really focused on. Juuni Kokuki excellent fantasy series with more or less no romance. Psycho-Pass currently airing(no romance yet) and seems unlikely to have any focused on, while being strongly plot driven so far. UN-GO mystery series with no romance.

Really? When I first saw Madoka Magica I thought it was a magical girl show. I'm a bit too old for magical girl, but if it's strongly plot driven I may give it a shot. The rest save for Death Note (watched before) I will place on my list~ Thank you so much you two!

As someone said before, Madoka makes you feel secure before punches you in a face with depression
Very deceiving series at first glance, it starts to show its real colours in episode 3 Ga-Rei Zero wise it does have a bit of romance but it is not a main focus though does play its role. Since you mentioned DTB, have you tried Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom? Baccano! is strongly plot driven. Berserk has good plot with nice build up. GTO is plot driven despite all the comedy. Monster is strongly plot driven.

Pretty much all this shows I list here meet your requirements. I particularly suggest Seirei no Moribito and Monster from that list. Two other suggestions not there would be Hikaru no Go and Chihayafuru.
i'm betting I'm older than you, and I'd still recommend you watch Madoka.

Seiji Sensei~ Yes you're definitely older. I see, I am seeing quite a lot of praise for Madoka so I will probably give it a chance. I will add Hikaru and Chihayafuru also. Thanks for a comprehensive list. I'm glad I raised this question here in the Suggestion section, you are all so resourceful.
I haven't ever seen Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom doing a brief google search I found there are some similarities between DTB in at least asthetically. I shall add these all to my list thanks! |

Phantom is great, I personally liked it far more than DTB.
But yeh they are pretty similar like mafia, heavy atmosphere, similar masks and etc. The main difference is that Phantom uses guns but DTB uses super powers. Ah I also want to edit Seirei No Morbito to my list. Great series with well thought out story and entertaining characters that have deep morals. Series are about female bodyguard Balsa who was entrusted to protect young prince Chagum who is hunted by his own father because water demon has possessed him. Story explores both calm and chaotic times and gives nice character development, especially for the prince.

I'm definitely going to check out Phantom it sounds like just the right show I would enjoy. Seirei No Morbito sounds really interesting too. My list is really rounding out nicely and I am pleased to say I have much I am interested in thanks to yours and other people's suggestions.
My list looks like this so far: Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom Ga Rei Zero Psycho-Pass Seirei no Morbito Monster Madoka Magica (I'll brave it, why not? I used to be a huge magical girl fan in highschool even cosplaying them.) |
