Art Sharing Sites
I would like to know some art sharing sites.
I know of Deviantart and pixiv already, and I might go to pixiv. But I would like to know some answers about pixiv, is it still mostly Japanese people on pixiv (pixiv is in many languages now)? Is the community lively like Deviantart? Also I wonder if I am allowed to put non-Japanese comics on pixiv? I would particularly want a site that allows comic uploading into "albums". Thank you! |

pixiv contains almost exclusively japanese style comics, but there is no rule prohibiting other styles.
There are several non-Japanese artists. You can upload illustrations into albums (called manga). Thankfully, the community is not as lively as in DeviantArt. Finally, pixiv has a limited english translation for its main functions.

Pixiv is mostly Japanese orientated site though there are western artists.
However, it has a massive collection of variety of images. Manga/anime vise it is heaven since you can find almost anything if you know how to search and have patience.

Hm, I like pixiv from what you guys tell me.
Well, I know at least for Japanese style art it is the best art site. I want to put my comics there but pixiv has that rule where you have to login to see full size pictures, and I think you have to login to see comics at all. I don't really like that... I wonder if there are any other art sites that let people see pictures without logging in and support albums. Thanks to you guys for helping me! |

No not a problem for me, I have no problem logging in either.
I just want a big as possible viewership, especially since most people who have accounts on pixiv may not like my stuff anyway (English comics, my Japanese may never be good enough to portray eloquent ideas and wordplay). But anyway I will definitely try putting my stuff on pixiv at some point. I like the tag system, for instance. Is it true there are not many comments on art pieces there? Also is it absolutely required to put your location, or is it just a suggestion? |

True, it lacks in comment department but does well rating wise if you get the right tags.
Well English is international language and if something it can be google translated unlike Japanese for which I can't get hieroglyphs

Well thanks, I will definitely do pixiv someday. I really wish deviantart had album support but too bad. Or maybe I'll do both. Anyway thanks everyone |
