It's Gameinformer, so there should not be any reason to suspect it being an April fool joke. But couldn't they have chose another day to do this announcement?

I was going through reddit and saw a post pointing out that the 4th games logo is actually an amalgamation of all three series' trademarks: Liberl's background, Crossbell's azure color scheme and Erebonia's flame.

It really drove home the impression that this is sort of the unifying game that brings all three together.

So after months of a much needed ToCS break (and "only" watching a couple of important CS4 scenes ) I gave in and started playing the PC version of part 3.
Knowing what drama to expect (at the end) makes it MUCH easier for me to deal with it when the time comes, given my prior heavy groaning about the drama shticks, but I disgress.

Random bits of thoughts. Spoiler tag just to be safe:

Spoiler for Random comments:

- I'm near the end of day 1 of Crossbell field exercise and so far most of EN voice acting is actually fine. Rean's deeper EN voice has grown to me. The only two I'm not that okay with are Juna, whose voice range sounds mostly too old-ish for her age imho, and Troll- ahem... Campanella's voice is kinda grating *lol*. I remember his JP voice had also this toying undertone but felt overall more "neutral" for lack of better words.

- The game feels on Normal rather harder than I remember CS1+2 but maybe I simply don't remember them too well. Mostly bosses if you are unable to burst them down in break state fast enough. I'm probably too sloppy with quartz making (for maybe some helpful SR stats). Juna + Kurt's brave order seem to make it more comfortable, followed by Rean's damage boosting and spamming s-crafts .

- Story-wise, chapter 1 was quite moving once the first batch of old class 7 returns and how they gave Michael the middle finger in order to help their friend out. Hamel was VERY atmospheric and melanchonic, especially the solemn scene before the boss battle with the 2 monster girls . Rean's unstable ogre mode is scary in Ch.2 (and probably onwards) but I intentionally spoiled myself already, so let's see how it will f*** him up even more =/.

- Character-wise, Allie's adorable <3, Valimar's awesome and in foresight to CS4, I really like how Falcom developed him over the course of Erebonia's shitstorm of events. Nostalgic and fun to see faces from Crossbell and Liberl again, even though that was to me old news.
Poor Fie didn't get to hug Rean, haha. Not even a legendary head pat! The remaining new cast seems okay-ish. I hope Michael becomes less stiff and iffy over the course. I'm looking really forward to see Mrs. Badass Aurelia in action.

I don't know if it's the same as what happened to me but the difficulty thing resonates. What happened was the Rean's s-crafts in particular were a bit nerfed. I think (but am not sure) that they got more expensive (maybe also less effective?) so the old tactic of AT-Delaying every mob doesn't work quite as well.

But eventually the brave order system will click with you and you'll find a brand new way to cheese the game hard. (it's very easy to make your turns come faster and break before the enemy has a chance to move... repeatedly. It's pretty broken )

It also takes a little more effort to make an evasion tank but it's still very much doable.

Yeah, I was doubting it so much and preordered the PS4 version from NISA's store and was like OMG is this real, why does the previous page show a link to CS3 But I ordered it just fine. I love how awful they are.

Also, I've played every game on normal so far, but I'm playing CS III on nightmare, so this should be exciting, lol. Am excited for CS IV.

More comments and questions from Mahou's playthrough, which I just completed
Spoilers as usual.

Spoiler for Plot questions and impressions:

The fun part first:
- If you are into this stuff, you gotta love how Rean's siscon leveled up during CS3, especially duing that sidequest in Heimdallr .
- The climax of Chapter 3 was cool with one of the most badass fighters in your party against Arianrhod. Melting mobs left and right and one-shotting (in a cutscene) a Cryptid like it's nothing.
- I really like(d) Altina's character development. It wasn't an in-your-face deal, so seeing how she gradually develops more emotions and her cute smile was heartwarming.
- The special sidequest in Heimdallr where you have all of the guest members + Sara and Asch was a neat idea, even though Agate, Sara and Claire/Sharon were more than enough.
- Old Class 7 reunion was lovely, too. Was nice to see how they had resolved to get behind the big stuff happening in Erebonia and how Ozzy's words in CS2's Infernal Castle came true (which I had to re-watch due to a a few years I think of no exposure...)

- Arianrhod and McBurn battle with very bitchy. The other fights went by quite fast.
- Ka-Boom Courageous
- Even though I was mentally prepared to what would happen, the finale with Milium and Allie did still sting quite a bit *sniff*.
- Yet thanks to the mental prepration, the degree of drama and oh-sh!t with music and slow motion was quite overblown. Seemed like Falcom had a good time during that part *lol*.

I curse my bad memory of Ao because I couldn't follow Prof. Schmidt's suspended sentence of the correlation between Crossbell's orbal network and the red Pleroma flowers after he witnessed Ouroboros' final experiment in Ch3.

Likewise, I still have no idea what "a plan to use the Hollow Phantasm of Crossbell to awaken the blaze in the Empire" even means or how Ozzy managed to steal the Phantasmal Blaze plan in CS2 (as in the data during the duel between Rean and Crow? or somehow predicting that corrupted Testa-Rossa would awake?)

As for gameplay:
- Battles can be really fickly at times, ignoring "cheese" strategies with Sledgehammer and Wind Blade or Sara/Claire's Orders. Like during my first attempt against Arianrhod and her 3 followers, I got stomped badly and couldn't recover from it at all. During the second time, they dropped quicly into break state and melted before being able to use their S-Craft. I guess it's RNG with turn order + praying that their craft don't cause too much havoc.
- Likewise, the 3-part battle in Dark Dragon Nest was a major bitch, especially the 2nd and 3rd fight. Luckily having a caster with the Ocean Bell quartz and Tear/Teara made healing more bearable without being trolled by the interrupting, cancel-all attack of the boss.

Now to wait for 2021 for CS4 PC version and probably much needed time to focus on my Master thesis and online lectures due to Corona.

Congrats. I'm just starting Sen I Pleased with most things so far, at least.

Any thoughts on the crossbell games? I found them quite enjoyable, though character wise I think the sky crew (mostly Estelle) hit higher peaks.

Ultimately I enjoyed it more then then the Sky Trilogy. Although I do think the cast in sky was better overall too. (Some main characters like Ellie and Noel kind of fall by the way side character-wise after their introductory arc). The rest of the cast was great though with Randy and Tio being particularly excellent. While the story was very good, I mostly enjoyed the side quests, which I found even better than the sky ones. I particularly liked how semi important they could be to the main story (Sully literally gets introduced in one of them). They're were several times they would even get mentioned if you did them in the story itself (The one with the Con Man trying to scam Amorica Village was a particularly nice one). It really helped give the impression of Crossbell being a well realized place. I of course also enjoyed the conclusion to Renne's arc and the references to the Sen Series were nice too.

If I had some complaints, its that first both Joachim and Mariabell were trying to be too much like Weissmann 2.0. (Joachim was particularly bad with how every other sentence was that he was Weissmann, but worse). Second was that characters were sometimes too quick to change their minds (Noel and Ian in particular practically change their ways of thinking in a scene. It's was more disconcerting in Ian's case, since he literally killed someone he considered a friend to accomplish his goals. It was nice though that one other complaint I had (That the SSS were a little to quick to move heaven and earth for Kea's sake) did get answered in the game itself.

Also shout out the the Arianhrod fight. It didn't get its reputation by being the hardest Kiseki fight for nothing. (I also like how you get 9999 exp (From the Arios fight in Chapter 4 too) for beating her. Nice integration of game play and story there.

Finally finished Cold Steel 3. Took me 146 hours. Great gaming experience.

While some of the bad points are still remain, there are many improvement from previous two Cold steel games.

My favorite things about Cold steel 3 is how the writer made all branch campus's students took a part in all 'field trips' instead of just Class VII members. Oh talk about, new Class VII, they are great kids, the smaller number of characters in group also help make each of them more memorable. The return of characters from Sky and Crossbell game (as well as the call back to Sky and Crossbell events) are great fan services too.

My favorite new Class VII characters are Musee and Juna.
My favorite branch campus's students are: Tatiana, Sandy and Maya.
My favorite background NPCs are Luna and her family+ 1 maid. That girls always curious about everything.

Now waiting for the ENG version of Cold Steel 4.....on PC.

How is the Geofront version? I just finished Sky not too long ago and ended up taking a short Trails break, so I'm looking to see which version of Zero is best to continue with.
