Question: why can't Mikoto enter the Misaka Network? She can create the waves necessary to enter it, and if it's just a matter of password, she can get it from the brain of one of the sisters...

Its the -exact- brainwave of the Misaka network. They effectively have one mind working in sync in many bodies. Mikoto could likely emit her brain waves if she chose too, but she wouldn't be in sync with the others, because her brainwave is different.

I actually think she could, if she wanted to... But I don't think Mikoto herself has realised this yet...

Except Last Order doesn't have the same brainwave pattern as the others, nor does Accelerator later...

For the same reason Accelerator does it later: to use the brains of all 10k misakas for calculations...

It was explained in LNs.

Brains CAN'T connect directly like that unless they are on the same wavelength.
If anyone tried to join the Misaka Network (besides the clones), their brain would be fried.
Last Order has the same programming as the clones, except some details to be able to control the network (this makes her personality "different")
Accelerator's choker is a transformator that transforms the Sister's Network brainwaves into his own, so his brain would not get fried.
Misaka can't join the Network, unless she figures out how to transform the brainwaves.
And don't forget the Level Upper users, they all fell into coma due to the stress it caused to their brains.
So even if she transformed it and joined, she might (would) eventually collapse from using it.
(But like stated in manga, she could make a Radio in ideal conditions with the Sisters to communicate)

Oh God please don't start this argument again. There's been endless debate on whether or not Misaka can grow wings like that (fan-made term is awakening) and it gets really tiring. The fact is that we don't know, but there is nothing to suggest that she can. The only people we know for sure who can do it are Accelerator the #1 and Kakine the #2, and Kakine has only done it the once.

She definitely wasn't awakening there, because if she was she would have started speaking in the language of angels and she probably would have crushed Accelerator.

Huh? I wasn't trying to start an argument...

I just noticed it and thought I'd share the cool image. Wasn't implying anything, just thought it was interesting. Sorry if you thought otherwise.

I've changed my mind actually though.

But yeah... better drop the argument before it actually starts.

Anyway... I actually like her portrayal during season 2 a lot, but in fact find her somewhat off at times. I don't know. Something about her seems off to me with the animation. It's like the animation is too good at times to be realistic compared to vibe I am getting from her. There are times when it is amazing, but it feels rare... Even the episodes where she has a lot of emotion still feel strained.

Of course, that is the intended point so it's working. But emotionally painful to watch...
