hahaha.. I agree with Dorfl. Let's not wish for Naruto's demise as of yet.

I would also like to have the bragging right to have read possibly the longest opening post in its entirety in the history of ASuki forum. One bow to imbecile-Naruto to inspire such indepth post from Ebony. As Austin Power would say, "Yeah baby, yeah!"

Personally, I think Naruto IS annoying, irritating and loud to boot. Sometimes, I just wish that I could smack him and get him to be less hyperactive.
Well, he's a kid. And for the most part, most undisciplined and spoilt kids are like that. I'm looking forward to the time skip (manga, if its coming) and a toning down on his hyperactivity. More importantly, let his training with Jiraiya get him to start thinking more instead of the usual "go in, get his ass kicked, then get his second wind and blast the enemy away" thing. Even Goku in DBZ (actually, Dragonball as a manga was pretty okay, no 10 minutes spent monolouging) changed and matured as time in the manga progressed. I hope Naruto does as well. |

Hey people long time no see...it's been a while since the last time I posted and some of it actually is because of the same reason as Ebony.
Naruto does get some obviously "lucky" wins but we can't really say he doesnt train hard because in some of the episodes, he does say he is training. (besides whose going to watch an anime where a whole episode is spent on the guy training) I have lost much interest in the anime but I watch it anyway for the sake of watching my favorite manga parts. And since Spoiler:
Although I understand why you are getting bored of the series, I don't think you should have bashed it so strongly when obviously there are Naruto-fanatics in here who will zealously defend it to the demise of every single bit of logic and sanity. All in all nicely supported essay* but really don't see much point in it... |

er... theres alot of thought to this and it won't stop anytime soon...
I think you may be to a certain point but theres reason that it would keep going further and further.. I don't mind seeing Naruto finally crush his opponent with Kyuubi power or the classic last minute save the day hit but you'd notice that all stories are pretty much the similiar in some way and different and sometimes it's difficult to notice but its similar people like you think too deeply about this ; ; or not enough... maybe should just take a break :-) because kyuubi resengan sharingan byakugan inner-sakura chidori isn't anything new either but when-why-how-where it's used makes it kinda still interesting.. to me at least |

And I find it hard to believe that you missed the point of his essay ... it just sounds too much like something you'd say to make the essay seem pointless. Last edited by Lexander; 2004-12-17 at 01:54. |

I recall seeing Naruto actually training a few times. (Zabuza Arc, Tsunade Arc, etc.) I've also seen him use some impressive strategy in his fights. I take Naruto for the character that he is, the one that the OP describes.
Naruto is young and lonesome. (Because of his apparent lack of talent) He is always told that he will never amount to anything. The girl he likes is in love with his rival, an extremely powerful demon is sealed within his body, and as previously mentioned he's an orphaned child. He has a complex life. I like his attitude towards his dream. However, I also believe that we should see him train more. In response to the opening question: "No." |

regarding the genius point i have to say that from a certain perspective naruto is a genius becuase he has the kyuubi thus he has the right to succeed
secondly personally i don't really think that an anime MUST send a message(good or bad or realistic) to the kids, so what if it teaches them that only idiots can succeed in life, its up to the parents and real life to teach them otherwise. the anime or manga is entertainment not education. as for the control of kyuubi i see that coming later. i have seen several anime or manga where the main char. has some hidden potiential that will be brought out later in the series, i suspect this is the same case the only thing is that it has nto reached the point when the mangaka has decided to do so. i n point of fact many anime with chars having this wildcard thingy first show signs of it in times of distress usually more than once, then some idiot wise guy will recognise it and then teach them how to use to bring it out. its part of the story dun be impatient. not trying to flame or defend naruto just stating my views. oh in addition i also have to agree that it is entertainment and an anime not real life stories so i guess we can afford to ignore some unrealisticism |

what are you? a perfectionist? geez, man. its a cartoon, targeted at kids. what the <smeep> do you expect? q;uite your whining and be glad you have an alternative source of anime to watch vs American's conservative approach and simple superficial gung-ho style.
I find ONe piece and Naruto more thought-provoking and entertaining than the current menu hollywood and disney dishes out. ie I Robot (phacking joke this movie is) I understand your points but still it can be applied to any crud hollywood mkes. Disney is an exception since they're not into this genre just this statement alone in your argument nullifies any degree of a good essay: Naruto has never lost a real fight, and barely trains. and since you' admitted you aren't with the current events of Naruto, your essay is worth little in disucssion. your essay prof would trash it. I give it a D. |

"Oh no this guy is a lot stronger than I am...well screw it I'm going to go watch the Biggist Loser!" I admit, the hero always standing up and using his once uncontrolable power is a clishe (cleshae, che...whaterver) as old as time itself (who can forget when Jesus finally mastered the 100 arc kick and beat Moses at the 107th Habatchi Tournament) but it is a nessesary plot device to keep the story going. That said, yeah Naruto is getting a little...off as of late, but maybe whoever writes it is getting tired of it... think DBZ |

I solemnly swear, EbonySerpahim, that I read your whole post on your analysis on the character, Naruto.
Besides a few details mentioned by other, I have to say that I am impressed at such a well-thought out opinion. I can't say I'm tired of Naruto yet, but I may eventually. Until then, Naruto shouldn't be a role model to anyone, but I have to say that not all situations that may seem out of your league should be backed away from. You shouldn't keep charging in stupidly, but giving up isn't always the better alternative. Also, I see some type of plan with Naruto. If he gets to become strong really easily, what happens when he falls? (You know, what happened with him and Sasuke recently) in the beginning, I can understand Naruto not doing much but fooling around. He had the dream, but not the drive. It's guess it's hard to have a drive when there's so much people bringing you down. Maybe when Iruka acknowledged him, he had the slight push he needed to get something done. And when he had more people supporting him a bit, it gelt easier to get more confidence. And when you're getting things so easy, why stop? But now that the thing he wanted (Sasuke's acknowledgment) is out of his grasp, he may really strive for something and actually put the effort he should have put into things in the past. I don't have too much expectations from a 12-year-old whose life finally started becoming more of a struggle like it should have been plenty of episodes back, but I have great expectations from how hje matures and changes after 3 years. Lastly, it seems that Naruto's main theme is lacking, but the little themes are what makes it up. Perhaps the main theme isn't complete yet. I'm satisfied with the small themes, despite the main theme. And just like the variations of several stories, all theme in different animes don't have to all be good, but say something about life. (I also thought the point was that Naruto was a horrible ninja that shouldn't be a ninja.) |

that was the longest anime analysis the i have ever read
i found a few flaws in your explaination 1. people, even anime characters gets tired, so the neji getting knocked out by two punches was rational, after deflecting kyuubi chakra, i don't think you would have enough energy to win 2. i agree with you that naruto is stupid and that's why he fought oro in the forest- stupidity overcomes 3. one thing in the anime world where naruto is, if a person you are holding or is holding you is alive, you cannot move or pluck them away. That's why kakashi was able to escape zabuza's blow to cut though him and haku- haku was dead. So, if haku was still alive, kakashi wouldn't have been able to move and would have be sliced in half. So, that basically justifies the kabuto vs. Naruto thing 4. one last thing that i remembered - on the top of the hospital: how can sasuke move if he was in mid air? if sasuke could have dodged naruto's rasengan, that would blow physics that is even necessary for anime, far away 5. this is a fictional thing, why the hell am i typing this... *goes away and slaps myself silly* |
