For all the controversy about these drone strikes, it seems that Bin Laden himself considered them to be have an extremely debilitating effect on his organization.

Mind, considering that there are so many other radical Islamic terror groups out there, it might be a good idea to not be so confident about the decline of AL-Qaeda.

Probably not. Hitler actively new the Russians were gonna come in at any moment. For all the trouble his organization was having, Bin Laden had sucessfully managed to remain in hiding for about a decade.

Honestly speaking, I really wish the DoD would release what kind of porn he had in his stash. Or at least the CIA would host it on an independent server and use it to raise funds for their operations.

One of Eric Margolis' books mentions Bin Laden having accused the Saudi government of depriving muslims of an obscene amount of money (I think it was something like a trillion dollars) by selling oil to the US for cheap. It didn't struck me as the sort of thing you'd hear from a pious man. More like something that someone full of himself would say. Made me wonder if the entire war with the US (which it seems to me he clearly wanted) was in large part an ego trip.

The Saudi Arabians are the real baskets here, messing with the price of future contracts with their straight out, flippant "up" or "down" comments about the production of oil.

Though it is kind of required since US's Big Oil was bleeding them dry AND profiteering by controlling the crude futures market, the increased volatility make it hard for them to park their monies there.
