No, they're just including mini-episodes on the DVD/Blu-Ray discs. I doubt they'll be anything to write home about.

Supposedly, Amazon pre-order rankings have been okay, so Usagi Drop may have a better chance of continuation than most noitaminA shows.

Finally manage to box through the last few episodes. I can only score it a six out of then. It was better than average, mainly because of the watercolour scene at the beginning of each episodes. Story-wise not a bit fan, start off interesting, but fade into blandness, i even fell at sleep in some episodes. I have to say a lot of hyped series is season were completely let downs.
Would i recommend it to people, yes i your life is so exciting that you need something to remind you that other people have boring lifes. Definitely not a series for everyone.

If they make a season 2 with the newer manga material, I'll watch it. It's possible that it will work out fine, despite what other people say about it. Wouldn't be the first time I went against popular opinion (either in terms of what show to pick or what I liked about hyped shows).

I'm not going to be original here, but this was one of the cutest anime I've ever seen. And I mean that in a very realistic sense. My only concern now is if I should go on with the manga, but considering what I've heard, I'm apprehensive, to say the least.

I say go with the M*nga...although some may not like where it leads, the "cute-ness" of life
and humour of life is still there and to me its faithful to the earlier material....YMMV.

Just read it yourself and make up your own mind even though it has obviously been position to not like what happens as it is. Even if you don't like the spoiler you might surprisingly like it if you actually read the manga.

Just saw the Special.

It was a 4-5 minute episode, and it still managed to have so much content, and still managed to give me that warm, fuzzy feeling. I was smiling without even realizing it.

Sigh, it's a flop Bluray/DVD sales far too low for second season.

site? reference? data support? We discussed this a few pages ago -- the whole market is sagging somewhat and I haven't seen any *cumulative* sales figures computed, only the weekly numbers from the sales thread and they look pretty reasonable for a niche anime.

3K blu-rays plus is a decent start for a josei series. Since this source posts exactly the same thing about every series, they're hardly worth replying to.

The number isn't that bad... its not like the show throwing big budget to called being a flop. Try to put it in context.

Just watched the Christmas special, and I can't say enough how much I love this show. Those 5 mins were not enough I tell you!

That being said, I had a smile on my face the entire time. So many memories from my childhood, and watching Daikichi's "struggles" as well were hilarious. This show is of the purest gold possible.

Can't agree more here.... 6 minutes of simply goodness

If they keep up the same winning format here, i think they will get bored of money before i can get bored of Usagi Drop

Not all manga readers would agree with you, I suspect.

A second season would have a much more .... sophisticated? tone rather than the cheery innocence of this season. It would make for a pretty good drama I think... but it wouldn't be the gumdrop goodness atmosphere of this season.

I agree as well....a 2nd season of Usagi Drop...seeing Rin & Dakachi
a decade later would have a more dramatic/soap opera tone since
most of the charactures are adults with adult issues.

The second half of Usagi Drop manga kinda reminds me of that manga which
they animated of Suzuka. They only animated the first 1/2-2/3's of the manga
because of the mature content of the later portion of the manga.

Just watched it yesterday, I don't think there's much hope for a season two.

Though I'm fine with what we already have.

The ep 8.5 special came out a little while ago, which is also quite nice....

Especially liked the scene where Kouki's mom shows "extra attention" to Rin and Daikuchi shows the same to Kouki - very touching, somehow.
