I'd like to think that Achiga, while they have no tier 1 players they are among the best of the tier 2 players around, such that the overall team level is comparable to that of Nagano other teams or other team's in the nationals, where there's more than one player with abilities well below the rest of their team.

Well. I'd actually categorize Achiga as Tier 3 players, as they're not even on par with the Tier 2 labeled here:

Tier 1 consists of the heavy hitter demons like Teru, Saki, Koromo, etc.

Tier 2 includes that of Mihoko, Stealth Momo, Touka, Nodoka, etc.

So much to talk about!

Spoiler for The strongest pair and delicious details:

I love Yumi, I love Momo, and I love them even more together, they don't even need to do anything big to gain me over, just seeing Momo hump Yumi the moment she's in sight and Yumi just having a big smile while Momo is glopming her are more than enough, I'm so glad to see the two are still as lovey dovey as ever.

Of course, we did get to see more of them, since we actually got some flesh to the training this time around, mostly for two things 1) To showcase how much of an underdog the achiga team is, even outright stating how damn predictable and easy to beat the Matsumi sisters are, with emphasis on Kuro, and 2) To give the original crew a chance to shine, and so they did, even Kana (also, I know she isn't nearly THAT bad all the time, but losing to Kana? Way to bring the point home), not only on their mahjong prowesses, like Momo's stleath or Yumi proving once again she's the series' true SUPER PILOT (12000 points from Yuu Seriously, the sisters are more of a hinderance at this point), but even their own personality quirks, like Mihoko being the ultimate housewife (for Hisa, that is ) and everyone's favorite pres being a speed demon (how awesome was to start the episode with the Wahahamobile?). A truly excellent way to keep the love for these lovely ladies alive and well.

Of course, the achiga girls didn't stay behind, and by achiga girls I mean Shizu and her awesome LETS GO TO THE FINALS speech Seriously, that girl knows exactly how to get you pumped for something and believe you can do anything. At this rate her next match will need to have Libera Me from Hell in the background, and that is not a joke.

Of course, it's impossible not to mention the surpirse appearance of the one and only Yuuki, complete with her Samidare look and all. Not only was that an awesome wink to the fans, it also works to show exactly where exactly achiga-hen is in terms of timeline. Also, the expressions of everyone else at Kiyosumi were hilarious, but really, Nodoka, stop being so serious, are you with DES or something?

The long awaited commentator duo finally arrives! And right now I prefer the old ones. Sorry. Kouko's voice is pretty nice, though.

And of course, KIRAME And I couldn't comprehend when I first heard Kuroko's voice coming from her, but once the initial sock was over, I was very pleased. I'm so looking forward to this girl.

Other than that, I just have two things to say

The time we've all been waiting for has finally come!

So many thoughts passed my mind as I watched this episode. At first, I was glad to see a lot of familiar faces (Yumi-chin and WAHAHA ).

LOL I just could not stop laughing at the end of the episode. Kuro, you are so screwed. Poor, predictable Kuro is sitting in a table of full of monsters, with THE MONSTER at its pinnacle. I just have no idea how she will survive, and I'm not even sure she knows how much of a dire situation she is in.

Now, another issue I have is that Teru is playing the first match of five, while Saki is plays the last match of five. That means that they will not meet up during the team competition at all, and the resolution to their relationship will not happen then. That leads me to conclude that they will not resolve the sisterly conflict until the individual championship.

Chapter 9 and 10 in manga are qute short. They can combine them into one ep.

...Maybe we will get SS2 of this spin-off like a rumor?

When Kirame said the last player to show up at the mahjong table is the best, I think it's the other way around. The one who gets there first is the one that will kick ass during the match. In fact, the order by which vangard players reached the table doesn't make much sense.

At the end of episode 4, Toki was the first one to get there. I really don't understand how could a sickly girl move so fast.

Then here in this episode Teru was already there reading book while waiting for her opponents. She doesn't seemed to be the type that runs, so did she teleported or something? I though she's supposed to be the last to show up since most of the news reporters are likely to gang up on her more than any other players similar to what happened to Cela before her match.
