I don't see it mentioned here, but it's worth noting the last patch ended halfway through Season 3 so you should pick up with the 'Two Snipers' chapter rather than going straight into Last Season. Just in case anyone gets confused.

It's great to have so much of 07th Expansion's work available in English and most of it done by Witch Hunt (which is really cool and also my preference). It's been a lot of fun to see this project through from the trial version all the way to the final product.

It's still removed, that's the main problem. I'm sure Witch Hunt's translation is great as always but it's kinda impossible to use it now.

am I the only one that think that Meijiu used the information that Butler had a sister to have her killed, pretend Gabriel was the one to blame and therefore turn Philip against him in a nice payback for how Gabriel persuaded Richard he was the one to blame for Stella and Yuuji's death? Gabriel definitely never saw that coming...

I can't see Meiju really killing Butler's sister just for that, not after what happened with Meixue, he's not that evil. And Philip actually had reasons to want to kill Gabriel even if his sister was still alive.
Given how Gabriel's personality was so twisted and how he enjoyed making Philip suffer it wouldn't be weird for him that after "finishing" his vengeance he would feel like killing his sister. Or maybe since he tought that Philip was so obedient to him it will not matter.

I dunno, but I don't think it would be Meiju work.

No, it had to be Meijiu considering:

1) Even if Butler's rescue failed, Meijiu mentioned it wasn't all lost and figured out an important information that could be helpful

2) Butler's behaviour isn't someone who finally got back at Gabriel. Also, remember he got an important phone call amidst this mess.

3) Garbiel isn't someone who would hide his acts once caught, and he truly was clueless about Butler's sudden "betrayal" at the very end.

Meijiu was always shown as someone who is pragmatic. Even if he is fond of Primavera people, if he had to dirty his hands for the sake of his lord, he would do it, even if Rose is going to take the brunt of that.
It was never something personal to begin with, and Meijiu had to dispose of Butler's "weakness".

Yes, and the only info they figured out was that Butler had been tamed due to his sister, which Meijiu defined as vital. Then he went and commented that despite them not managing to free Butler there's 'still one way' and that 'there are many doors that cannot be open from the outside... but can easily be opened from the inside'.
Pretty words to say that what Butler wouldn't do to help them, he would do in order to avenge his sister, which is clearly not only his weakness but also the thing for which he bore an umiliating imprisonement and submitted to a man he hated, accepting to go though a plan he found disgusting and refusing to be freed. Quite a strong motivator.

Yes, he got a call from his mother. And the day after Gabriel pointed out he was unnaturally pale. Likely his mom warned him Ange was killed and in such a way it made him suspect Gabriel was behind it. I hope for him and Ange not the same way in which Yuuji was killed... even if it would make sense.

Yes, he definitely didn't expect Butler to betray him. He knew Butler was being obedient because he could blackmail him and he hadn't finished yet to use Butler. He had no reason to get rid of his sister. If he had suspected Butler could rebel to him he wouldn't have let him out of his sight to search for Richard.

Since Butler managed to hide Richard and to talk with him it implies his surveillance was pretty slakc while searching for him.

We were told Gabriel losened it when Butler refused to escape which fit... but he knew the day before Butler got a phone call from his mother and if he had murdered Ange he would have all the reasons to fear he didn't have control on Butler anymore and not leave him out of his sight.

Instead he's absolutely calm about sending him out and even plan to share some wine with him when he'll return.

When Richard shows up and is aware of what Gabriel had done it takes Gabriel a while to connect the dots and figure Butler has sold him out. It's another hint he didn't expect Butler would betray him. Gabriel even think that while he can figure out Butler has sold him out, he didn't understand why Butler would do it 'only now'.

If he had killed his sister and had been aware Butler had been informed about Ange's death he would have the slight suspicion this could be Butler's motive.
Instead he thinks Butler should know he has done something meaningless.

After Gabriel kills Richard and Butler shows up he even asks Butler to explain his reasons for that 'unexpected surprise' and didn't expect at all that Butler could be willing to stain his own hands in order to kill him.

When Butler bent on Richard, who still has a gun in his hands Gabriel isn't worried at all.

LOL, I'm sort of impressed by how even if the text tell us he couldn't have aimed well he still managed to accurately pierce Gabriel's neck.

Anyway, when Gabriel is about to die and Butler tells him he won't forgive him asking him how he could do that to Ange, Gabriel again has no clue what Butler is talking about and tells him so.

It's a pity we don't know what happened afterward, if Butler even figured out that he was set up against Gabriel the same way Richard had been set up against Meiju.

It's also a pity because he truly was against what Gabriel did and, if he could, would have stopped it and even tried to warn Rose.

I'll say in RGD they're almost all 'evil'.

Meiju, Butler and Gabriel are all villains who wouldn't hesitate to sacrifice others, although they've different sets of moralities.

Butler thinks even a villain must be decent enough not to involve innocents, or at least to hesitate before involving women and people who'd showed good will on him, while it's fine not to have hesitations while killing scum.

In RGD1 he's not comfortable with the idea of Rose being willing to comit suicide to bring down Caleb... even if ultimately let her do it (though I've always wondered if Leo was allowed to reach Rose and ultimately stop her because Butler allowed it).

In the same way in RGD1 Meiju has no problems in twisting Rose's mind to set her up against Caleb sending her in what was very likely more prone to end up in a suicide mission.

Meiju might have liked Rose, the same as he probably liked Wang but he wouldn't hesitate in killing them if it was useful for him. And so he wouldn't hesitate to involve Butler's sister and kill her if he believed it could bring him some personal gain.

As for Gabriel... he's the worst because he's not doing it merely because it's useful to him but he's also taking a liking to it. Gabriel is totally enjoying the pain he causes while Meiju is merely not worrying about it and Butler is disliking causing it.

They're interesting representations of the various shades of villains, like Richard, who turns into a villain due to his grief basically making him mad, James, who sells himself to the best offering, Maurice, who doesn't hesitate to have the wandering dogs murdered and even takes pleasure in killing them because he despised them and felt superior even if they were on his same side, Cyrus, who out of loyalty for Richard followed him through thik and thin, Caleb, who thought that a good motive like helping his countrymen could justify what he was doing and so on.

Well, your theory has actually some sense, looking at it like that it could perfectly be.....
Man, Meiju was really angry after all then, to use any mean to get rid of Gabriel.
But I tought he would use some other method. Like he said he wanted to feed Gabriel the same poison that killed Yuuji. But given the situation that would be quite difficult yeah.
Lee Meiju can be really scary, can't he?
