Just finished manga on monday, the manga was sweet.
Some were disappointed because of the outcome, but those people then missed the entire point of the series.
The way I see it from the manga ( witch is probably based on LN ) they have enough material for season 2.
Season 2 was confirmed but is there any news about production at all?

The ending in the manga was the same in the LN. I was disappointed in the manga because they heavily cut out a lot of things from the LN in the manga. Normally it takes 2 manga volumes to cover one volume of an LN, but for Mayo Chiki all 12 volumes of the LN were covered in 7 manga volumes.

There was never a confirmation of a 2nd season, who said that?

It was announced, but without a release date.

And then we have this, but for 2013: http://anime-focus.com/2012/07/17/ma...slips-to-2013/

Now that manga ended they can start working on it, or do they plan to live it hanging unfinished like that?

1) A second season was never announced

2) That link is for the United Kingdom release of the anime, not a second season.

3) Whether the manga was over or not would have absolutely no bearing on a second season when the manga isn't the source material

1) You were right, I double checked and the announcements were for figurines that were released in 2012.

2) This can be put under 1 since it was for the same stuff.

3) Manga is based on LN, they have the exact same storyline. With that LN was over some time ago and anime barely covers half of it.

So they are going to live this hanging just like they did Elfen Lied and Claymore?

Ohhh. So the manga is loyal to novel. I guess I'll read the manga sometime when I have the time.

It's not really very loyal though, as I said before they cut out a lot of parts from the novel in the manga. Vol 1-4 of the manga covered vol 1-5 of the novel which was quite loyal. Vol 5-7 of the manga however covered vol 6-12 of the novel and so on average the manga didn't even cover half of the contents from vol 6-12 of the LN.

So, when everything is considered they have material for season 2 and more.
Now the only questions are:
-will they do season two and start over?
-will they even do it in the first place?

The story is quite good and generally well accepted. I don't see why they don't do another anime or just continue the oen they stared?
