Just watched it. Didn't played the game yet but as action movie it was really good IMHO. And my friend who played the game said that it was quiet true to the original plot. Hope someone would give Gonzo more money cause they still could make decent anime if the right stuff is involved.

OH BABY!!!
I had no idea this was already out. Downloading now. This should be awesome. Thanks for the heads up Nachtwandler. *edit* Just finished watching it. Not bad if you take it for what it is. Don't come into it expecting the movie to accurately cover, depict, and summarize all the events and boss fights as they played out in the game. Since they only had an hour and a half to work with, I guess they clearly had to omit things here and there, and rearrange or change certain events completely. But on the whole, the action and animation was solid, the music they chose from the game was well selected and utilized, and the movie does what it can to cover all the main plot points IMO. Spoiler for the movie:
Very few things bothered me. I could list some, but they're trivial. With that said, I'm sure this won't be for everyone. Some people will hate this. Not sure if it's the fault of the subs or what, but some of the humor in the dialogue is definitely lacking. This is one movie, I'd definitely want to see dubbed. So hopefully they'll make an english dub with the same voice overs, and hopefully they can bring some of that comedic charm back into the script for the games more memorable moments. Hell, just copy and paste the lines straight from the game if they have to. Aside from that, I know other fans won't be nearly as easy going about the changes to the plot as I was. So there's that to consider as well. 8/10. Last edited by sayde; 2014-02-19 at 00:10. |

As a stand alone movie, it was good. As an adaptation, it was terrible. They either removed or altered all of the best fights in the game. All of the stuff I wanted to see in this movie wasn't there. Plot was never Bayonetta's strong suit, but they somehow managed to make it worse as well by trivializing the twists. Disappointed.

Good adaptation. I am glad that it focused on the characters, mythos and story from the game. If you want action, play the game. If I was introduced to Bayoverse through the movie and pick up the game I can go "cool, I can be just as awesome or better than movie Bayo"
Good: Brings to forefront some of the more obscure story elements. Use some of details found in the behind the scenes material such as Jeanne's day job. Bad: Sad to see Sega credited as creators and Platinum Games only as collaborators. Wish more of the game music was used in the movie. Surprised: Neat adaptation of the torture attacks. Props for using Kamiya's favorite one.

Any fansubbers working on this? Or does the Blu-Ray come with eng subtitles?
edit: Also, haven't played through the game yet (only an hour in). What would you guys suggest? Play through game first or watch movie first? Thanks!
