This does change a possible remake of a second series storyline. Probably no "Starflies" in the Yamato 2199 version of the second series. Cause the captain of that green Gamilas battlecarrier in 1978-79 was in command of that red battleship we just saw.

It would--for me at least--make it more plausible that the people of Earth would be willing to forgive (to an extent) Garmilas for the war that ravaged Earth if Gatlantis is a greater threat and Garmilas comes to their aid. Conversely, if Garmilas is the one in trouble (and it would make sense that they would be) and the Terrons come to their aid, it would certainly help solidify the worth of the Terrons in the eyes of the Garmilas I would think based on how they are portrayed as being honorable to some extent. But, no matter what happens, I am confident that it will be worth watching.

A Earth-Gamilas alliance against Gatlantis (formal) would still need to address "what happened to Dessler?". There might be two factions of Gamilas. One allied with Yamato and one allied against Yamato. It might depend on which Talan is with Dessler I think. The older one was with him last time we saw Dessler. The younger one looks like the Talan that Dessler was usually with from Yamato 2 onwards. He was last seen on Gamilas talking with Deitz.
As for tactics to survive what happened? Spoiler for Gatlantis vs Gamilas:

I can see how the Megaluda's magna-flame gun will cause the need for the Earth to either convince Starsha to allow them to use the wave motion gun (make her change her mind) or defy Okita's promise and build ships with it anyway.
Just my opinion.

It is appreciated. Anybody know when the Blue Ray will be coming out, and if it will have subtitles in English? I ask, because when it comes out on Amazon.jp I would like to buy it.

No date has yet been announced for the release. Take notice this is different from the previous releases. Chapters 1 to 7 had a limited theatrical release and was meant as a home vídeo release from the start. VtR was a compilation movie and though it received a wider theatrical release, it was basically reused material. This is a nation wide release of a brand new feature film. Advanced release of blu-rays could hurt the box office, so it was probably demanded by the many theatres that joined in to hold it off until it had finished its theatrical run. But i'm sure we'll soon have news on that front. And given the patern the series has show, its almost certain it will have english subtitles. Lets wait and see.
