They kept with the pace of the aftermath of CROW beating up PCP. That was a good choice to show the viewers how much Niizuma cares for and respects his rivals. Those like Ashirogi Muto who every time take up against his challenge.

With CROW ended now another title will have to fill up the vacuum. I presume either would be GIRI or Seigi no Mikata.

We got to know a bit more about Hattori's character and his passion as an editor. Glad he got to work on Reversi. Reversi vs Zombie Gun is on!

This episode rushed through 4 manga chapters (152-155), but now that there are only 21 left to adapt, hopefully the show will settle into a nice pace from now until the end. After so many setbacks and learning experiences, it's great to see Takagi and Mashiro finally come up with something that can go toe-to-toe with Niizuma's best work.

Ashirogi's Revesi battle manga vs Niizuma's Zombie Gun.
Those two/three always have to compete.
Yet, they never manged to beat Niizuma...
Maybe it's time for that to change.
Finally, a manga that surpassed Niizuma.
Looks like things will become really interesting!

First Part:
Iwase will always be Iwase. To tell you all the truth her segment didn't have on me as much drama impact as it had in the manga, that's likely due to the anime dropping out sub-plots and going on a fast pace.

I see that Sasaki along with Nakano gets to be transferred to Hisshou Jack at a sooner date. Not to spoil things for the anime-only watchers, but the staff completely skipped a good story-arc from the manga, though I feel like understanding their decision. However, Sasaki visiting both Niizuma and Ashirogi Muto before prompting to his early departure in the anime also diminished the drama impact that particularly had in the manga.

Good news:
- The second part instilled within me an unsatiable crave to go watch right away the next episode.

Mashiro's deduction came very handy to realize how to properly seam together the dark hero and true justice hero trope characters in order to make them converge into a single story suited for Jump. The result their next manga: A manga with mainstream characters and mainstream storyline but with unorthodox batlle style.

Niizuma, on the other hand, doesn't waste time either to conceive his next manga project about a mainstream Zombie who fights for justice and the girl he loves.

I apologize for the double post.

To analyze this episode let me be clear: I absolutely despised the pace at how they trimmed too much material from the manga in order to adapt this episode.

The rundown feeling I got was that the trimming and rushed pacing made it seem to appear that the former Editor-In-Chief, Sasaki, was so much fond of Ashirogi Muto to have Reversi serialized in Jack in weekly format that he got his wish quite literally; felt as if he was symbolically pulling the strings from behind the scenes.

Also, it made for a diminished impact Yuujirou's role interacting with Hattori and suggesting to do Reversi at the meeting board; the manga presented him on that arc very elaborately, formal, and quite heroically.

In fact, the fast pacing and edited-out material made this resolution for Reversi in the anime look quite cheap, and just when I had expectations for this episode after getting blasted with the concluson from the previous one.

Mashiro planed everything nicely.
Hope Ogawa will be able to manage the assistants.
PCP moving on to middle school and Reversi coming out soon.
Looks like Mashiro overestimated the time needed to finish everything in time.
Luckily Ogawa rescued them all by adding more assistants.
They got first place again and again, cool! ^-^
Niizuma is not a fool, he knows how to get more readers.
His tactics are amazing.
They'll have to make Reversi the best it can be no matter how long or short it will be.

Just like two weeks ago, this particular episode allots its running time adapting and describing two different manga chapters in separated halves.

The first half of this episode show to us the agony of Mashiro and his team of Assistants to manage a taxing schedule of doing 61 pages for two different series in just a tightened limit of seven days in order to meet the deadline.

If you ask my opinion, the problem did not lie about the team lacking a proper number of assistants as both Mashiro and Ogawa put it, but because the overall team we're so used to a different time schedule and pacing of work when doing one weekly series. However, the schedule and pacing completely changed once beginning to do two different series during the same time limit, although one of them became monthly while other turned weekly. The team just were inexperienced with the pace and workload to come up fast doing two series. Fortunately, Ogawa saved the day at the last moment bringing two extra assistants, whom were far more experienced with that kind of taxing schedule.

Now, for the second half of the episode I noticed some minor changes and mostly done about the circumstances on how key news were delivered, though I felt like they lessened a bit of the impact in the current arc.

The rundown is that Saikou never meant REVERSI to be long-running series, but a series that has to become a flagship of Jack's mainstream selection, and one that guarantees the potential to be adapted into anime to become true. But, things to consider about battle shounen manga is for the authors to switch the antagonists based upon reader's feedback and their own personal intuition.

It's obvious that since Ashirogi Muto conceived and designed the story from the very beginning to center exclusively around two dual characters, then that rule of shounen manga cannot be applied into their work. So, how can they solve this dilemma?

Simple, neither dragging nor overstretching the story by throwing in unecessary elements but keep it concise, dense with Takagi's trademark psychological warfare flavor, and fast-paced, since those are key elements that play favorably for REVERSI to be brought to its full potential.

I do apologize for the double post but looks like activity died down for the past week, and I guess is natural given that as of lately Bakuman has turned not that very interesting. I believe this is partly due that the manga serialization finished almost a year ago, and this last season lost its freshness for starting broadcast seven months later after the manga concluded.

The rundown is that Hiramaru achieved to propose to Aoki after so many mishaps happened, though the proposal ring was finally found.

Mashiro, on the other hand, got the gloomy blues learning from Hattori that Zombie Gun got an order for 900,000 more copies for its second batch of reprints, and he practically sulked his way over to the party.

Honestly, does Mashiro has to be told by Eiji himself, that the latter is going not to lose and do better than the former, in order for Mashiro to regain back his spirits? That plot device is wearing down everytime the writers pull it on me.

Now, let us not forget about Katou's friend, voice actress in-training, Kitami Ririka. She will be important for later, so as not to spoil for anime-only watchers things to come.

Episode 21 ended in a cliffhanger, but that is to be expected. 4 episodes to go before the series concludes.

I'm going to guess that Reversi and Zombie Gun will both get anime adaptations. No way Hattori would rush like that just to give them bad news, but there always has to be a twist in every news.

Ririka had an usual small focus this episode as a voice actress. I wonder what she will end up doing? Maybe she will be the main VA for Zombie Gun female?

At least, the first half of this episode felt boring and dragging, but that's due because my interest for Bakuman has been plummeting with the manga finished about a year ago.

However, they kept a steady pace to take time developing the focus of Hattori announcing to the boys about the Higher-Up's decision to likely have Reversi animated, and yet Niizuma wouldn't pass the chance to have the same gold opportunity for Zombie * Gun's animated version by doing original storyboards himself.

I know it happens IRL, but the way the series does it feels so artificial, probably didn't want it to be too real.

I could see it if Azuki was a regular idol, but as just a regular voice actress, don't think it has the same 'pure waifu' image some idols are contracted to be.

It was about time they got a break! Mashiro i Azuki deserve it!
I just this moments in Bakuman. Guess that's why I watch it.
Ririka sure started an avalanche of trouble for Mashiro and Azuki.
Problems, problems, problems that just keep multiplying.
Azuki's radio broadcast was just amazing and sweet.
Looks like that turned things around for both of them.
Kinda lifted thing to a whole new level for them too.

Best thing about this show is that they cut Nanamine part 2. If they can make a better ending than the manga, I'll give praise to JC Staff.

While I agree that the anime handles the development of this event much worse than the manga did, there was an extremely in-depth discussion about this when it first occurred in the manga. Excuse me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing you're anime only? Not wanting to revive that nightmare of a topic, having this occur when they got their first anime isn't far-fetched at all. The timing may not be to your liking, but unfortunately there's not much else left to cover after accomplishing their goal of getting an anime, so this was destined to be an endgame scenario.

I do not blame the producers for the way they handled this last season in the anime, because it's been a year since the manga ended serialization. The last anime season started broadcast six months right after the end of the manga, and by the time that this current season started the whole anime itself lost freshness and novelty.

I do now understand why the animation staff trimmed, cut, and dropped several subplots and one arc, because they were seeking to tighten the pacing in order to end this season as fast and all in one go.

The other subplots were not essential or unneeded to the scope of this season, that is the main goal is for Ashirogi Muto to get an anime from their manga serialization and has been accomplished. Now, the next goal is for Azuki Miho to win the lead role of the heroine starring in the anime adapted from Ashirogi's manga. Once that second goal is cleared, then and only then will Mashiro and Miho get to reunite with each other in order to marry.

The anime staff omitted someone from the manga; the identity of the specific person who started the uproar throughout the internet about both Mashiro and Miho dating, whom is revealed in the manga. I guess the anime staff had enough with Nanamine getting too much of an influence at becoming a recurrent antagonist, that they simply felt that just with one antagonist in the anime it was enough.

The anime implies that people throughout the net after reading Ririka's blog pieced the hints, and eventually figured out by themselves both the identities for Ashirogi Muto and Azuki.

We're just three episodes away for the whole of Bakuman to conclude once and for all, but still I felt this episode to be Ok.
My two cents that the plot with Miho getting Naho's role will be resolved in this week's to come next episode.

more of a mangaka question, but nowadays, is it still common for most manga artist to draw by hand with a bunch of assistants?

Since with technology advancement in the past 20 years, there's drawing tablets and such now. Noticed in Sakuarasou, the girl drawing a serialized manga there uses a drawing tablet.

The amusement park date was really nice. OMG!!! She actually accepted the proposal! I'm glad for them ^^ Seems like more and more of them are getting paired up. Well, at least Vol. 1 is selling pretty good, but not as well as Zombie Gun. Niizuma really likes those two. Guess 'cause he considers them true rivals. Reversi anime... was giving everyone a headache. I thought it would be a no-brainer, but they complicated it. It's nice they let Hattori in on the whole wedding thing promise.
