It just ended 。・゜・(ノД`)・゜・。. My Tuesday evening will be lonely. Thank you Mikako-shi. Thank you Lady Go!. If not for MoPi I wouldn't even realize the program existed.
Oh wait, Mikako-shi has two new radio programs. Good news for me :P.

If that's true, not cool. But knowing this guy, it's not probably true. |

Anyone knows of child prodigies in the Japanese voice acting industry then and now?
Back then, it was HanaKana and Saori Hayami iirc, I know there are more. Now there's a certain teenage male seiyuu who got his first big role at age 14 iirc. I sadly forgot his name. |

Aoi Yuuki had her first major role at age fifteen when she played Murasaki opposite Sawashiro Miyuki in Kurenai. She'd done smaller parts starting at age eleven and live television before that. Here's a good overview of her early career from our friend Kaoru Chujo.

By the time she got the role as Madoka Kaname, she's already an 18-year-old veteran seiyuu. That's one hell of a prodigy right there. Are there many Japanese seiyuus like HanaKana, Saori Hayami and Aoi Yuuki out there? Last edited by judasmartel; 2015-10-15 at 04:11. |

You mean like Miyu Irino, who started out quite young and had some noticable roles as early as 14 years like Sora in Kingdom Hearts series (game)
And another favorite seiyuus of mine, Nazuka Kaori had a starring role at a young age in Ima, Soko ni Iru Boku (together with Sanpei Yuuko, who is around the same age as her) Also let's not forget Sawashiro Miyuki who started as Puchiko in Di Gi Charat in 1999 |

That teenage kid I'm referring to got his first big role within the last 1-2 years at age 14. Still can't remember his name but I can't find his face in the Net either. Anyways, I see that seiyuu prodigies are really a thing in Japan. |

As far as I remember, Kensho Ono began his career at 11, starring in Japanese dub of Harry Potter and Philosopher's Stone.
And then there's also Barakamon, which had a lot of children in the cast. Naru's VA was 9 years old. |

So much for her career...

Ai Takabe is probably best known for voicing Fumi Manjoume in Aoi Hana and Agiri Goshiki in Kill Me Baby. So much for her career and life, Japan pretty much has a zero tolerance policy on drugs legally and socially. edit-- And her drug of choice is apparently cocaine... Good luck getting anything but AV work in the industry. Quote:

On the one hand I think it's a good thing that the Japanese still consider cocaine use a social no-no, compared with Hollywood stars, where a drug bust seems to help people's credibility.
On the other I think it's lousy that her professional life has to be almost completely destroyed because of this, to the point where her name is apparently being edited out of credits. I certainly would not advocate cocaine use, but as the old saying goes, she didn't kill or hurt anyone (as far as I know; hopefully she didn't try driving under the influence). As seems to be a refrain in seiyuu threads, seiyuu are still human. Even with Japan's more conservative attitude toward drugs, I'd imagine she isn't the only seiyuu who's tried something illicit at least once. (And yes; she, like most seiyuu over age 20, is probably not a virgin, heh.) |
