Well yeah, war is kinda a inevitable here. Even if Rentaro and Enju does manage to kill that level 5 Gastrea, they're still going to war anyways. And yeah, it ain't pretty and I'm expecting this to escalate into a third world war.

It seems that the author is showing his political views a little more, leaning more left-wing (the antagonists in volumes 5 and 6 happen to be part of a secret ultra-right wing organization that wants to reunite Japan under an totalitarian fist and used modified Gastrea to take over the world), and the fact that the author portray discrimination against cursed children to be very wrong. Thus being said, it appears the novel is leaning more and more "the end justifies the means."

This is insane! eveb if that madman manage to put several gastrea under his control with just mobilizing hid troops will cause an endless army of gastrea to destroy anything that comes off of the cities protected by the monolities. Rentaro must kill that lunatic or what is left of mankind will be done for before the gastrea could give them a round two.

Bad news, I just checked the BD/DVD listings for Black Bullet and there are 7 volumes with 2 episodes each, so it is one-cour. I think it's 13 main episodes + 1 bonus episode. If it's 13 episodes, then I was right that vol 1 is covered in 4 episodes and vol 2-4 are 3 episodes each.
