This is a really dirty move on Sinbad, I must say. Dammit, man. I don't know what to say.
Well, it'd be good if Alibaba's genius brain can figure out a way to get through this. The main big bad is David. Sinbad is either being manipulated and doesn't realize it, or he's already become evil and did a good job of hiding it in front of Alibaba.

Just have Alibaba marry Kougyoku and become the Emperor Kou. Problem solved. |

I don't want Alibaba marrying Kougyoku, though. He still as Mor, and no, she hasn't moved on to Hakuryuu.
I'm not sure how they're going to fix the trust issues, but marrying Kougyoku and becoming Emperor of Kou can't be the only way. But yeah, false rumors about the marriage might work for a while. Alibaba has to ultimately build a strong trust between himself and other countries so that something like this doesn't happen. He could tell them to consider why he'd help a bad country that wants to start wars all over again or whatnot.

They were a war-mongering country at odds with every place they wanted to trade with and we saw they were working on undead warriors. Of course a rumor is going to screw them over. That crap doesn't disappear just because the head of the country changes, and Alibaba has been played like a dupe before. They might trust him, but they don't know if someone is pulling his strings.

Yeah this is not going well for Alibaba. I hope he's got a plan especially since Sinbad declared himself as his rival. Curious to see what he'll do next time. I have to admit though, the rumor is a smart but also a dirty one. I also wonder what the limits are for that teleportation technology?

Though I am not sure why those countries think Kou is a threat, I mean with their economic status they should have a laughably small military. Invasion could be avoided

^It's not about whether Kou is weak or not, keep in mind it's only been 3 years since all these new regulations have been put in place. The memory of Kou's warmongering is still very fresh in the minds of the people and it doesn't take much to make people act on their lingering fear and distrust.
Sinbad knew that and took full advantage of it to tilt the situation in his favor. On another note, you could argue that the plan was doomed from the beginning since roughly half of the the countries they planned to put teleportation circles in had leaders/key figures that were all completely loyal to Sinbad despite their status. I'm also really starting to question the 8 generals at this point, they all clearly know Sinbad isn't acting like his normal self yet they don't seem to be calling him out on it. It's really jarring to see if you've read the Sinbad's prequel manga. |

I wonder if Reim went back on their agreement. They don't trust Sinabd either, they still have their metal vessels... It wouldn't be hard to put the teleportation circle under guard (which they'd have to do anyway). Heck, they should put guards on both sides of the circle - that's something to negotiate with Kou, which would alleviate trust issues.

Btw, does anyone else love how the mangaka makes the irrationally scared people look like hollow shells of their former self? It is as if the previously shown people lost all complexity and became one-line thinkers it fits SOOO good into it because the people always act like them the moment the mangaka uses this |

Alibaba didn't see Sinbad's hand in the fast spread of the rumor. Or in the Parthevian emperor telling him the one thing sure to get rid of him ("I'm sold, but please wait a few weeks."). He does still have serious blind spots.
