Ousama Ranking TV anime announced for October (Fall) 2021. It will premiere on Noitamina and animated by Wit Studio.

Plot Summary

Bojji (ボッジ), a deaf and powerless Prince. Despite being the eldest son of royalty, people around him gossip that he is not fit to be King. Marvelous first episode, fantastic visuals and animation. WIT really outdoing themselves with this one.

Also apparently this is going to have 23 episodes for a series like getting two cours in this day and age is quite frankly a miracle.

They tried really hard to replicate old school animation, and I think the result is fantastic.

Bojji's father and mother are/were apparently both giants. I guess them having a normal sized kid can happen, but someone needs to explain to me how Bosse managed to father Daida, given that the current Queen is a normal human.

I found it really funny that the ED had a "this is a work of fiction" disclaimer. No fucking shit.

That was really good, I liked the style of it and it could be the dark horse of the season.

There was the odd scale thing, where sometimes Bojji would look like a regular short kid, while in other shots he looked more like a Tom Thumb style character, so I'm wondering if that's being symbolic of status when compared to other people (looking tiny next to the King, but more regular child size compared to others).

But yeah, very promising.

The first episode was pretty good and I really like how they replicated some old-school animation. I hope this doesn't go too under the radar.

I gotta say, seeing what I thought was a mentally-challenged kid being made fun of and taken advantage of was REALLY hard at first. Practically unbearable. When he cried by himself in the room, I just couldn't take it anymore and stopped watching.... but I came back today and finished it, and man what a spectacular end to the episode! Glad I had the motivation to come back to this

Kage's backstory was really sad. He's had a rough life. I'm guessing the girl who saved him will be an important character, since they took the trouble of naming her and all.

Bojji's duel with his brother really pissed me off. How is dodging undignified? If anything it's more graceful than parrying. His asshole master told him to stop using his only advantage and may have just watched him get killed if that one other guy hadn't put an end to the duel. Bojji was in a very sorry state after this, but his bravery earned him the sympathy and respect of Kage.

Oh and they've established Bojji has been reading lips all along but... how does he understand Kage? I actually thought he could read minds last week.

I think he's moving his hand? mouth? claw? thing when he talks to Bojji

Kage's backstory was pretty sad and Boji's duel both made me happy at first, then pissed me off once he was told to stop dodging. At least that entire ordeal brought Boji and Kage together with Kage growing to respect the kid.

It was pretty solid. I didn't get that overwhelmed by it though. Just pretty decent overall.

Certainly Boji's situation is both interesting and a sad one. And Kage's backstory was also certainly like that as well. Both of them have had to deal with difficulties to put it lightly.

I think the art style is pretty nice though. When you see such an art style, it should intrigue you to at least try it out. And if you try it out, you'd find out how good it is.
The people that would dismiss it because it wasn't like every other anime out there... well, has all of those average anime to enjoy too, heh.

Join Date: Sep 2006	Spoiler for Episode 2: So this week we get Kage's backstory, from l'il Kage and his mum trying to escape the forces who had killed so many of their kind, Kage being saved by the intervention of some kind people, he wandered alone until he fell in with a bad guy who used him and betrayed him. You'd never think the tale of a small blob child could be so heartwrenching. We also see round two of the duel.
