Top 5...
1) Crest of the Stars (and the sequels) 2) Higurashi no Nako Koro Ni 3) Fantastic Children 4) Futakoi Alternative 5) Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora For some horror stuff you could try Gantz The ongoing Ghost Hunt is a good piece as well.

some suggestions...not necessarily my top five
1) xxxHoLiC - horror/mystery 2) witch hunter robin - mystery, has some violence and is rather dark 3) Basilisk - is a dark ninja anime with romance and lots of blood/gore 4) Chrno Crusade - nuns with guns 5) Gunslinger Girl - girls with guns also second Juuni Kokki, Gantz and Fantastic Children |

It had an interesting plot and good animation (for its time) but the ending was just Spoiler:
makes me want to forget it. watch: 1.Shadow Skill (if you watch the dub god will smite you, you have been warned) 2.Fate/Stay Night 3.Gunparade March 4.Ghost Hunt 5.Full Metal Alchemist I can't say how great Shadow Skill is, personally it is my fave anime eva and I think its miles better than the sub standard shonen thats spewed out now. Also FSN is superb, really excellent plot and fights. I think Gunparade March is also one of my favorites, basically a guy and tsundere girl with mechas and aliens. (cant be bothered to put links, too tired, how much effort does it take to find a synopsis anyways @_@ ) P.S. Oh I second Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora really sad/happy story depending on your perception. Last edited by Blizzer; 2007-03-12 at 17:44. |

Edit: on second thought you're likely referring to all the Banner of the Stars... I liked the first three series, but couldn't even sit all the way through the first episode of the BotS III ova. Does it contain the crappy ending you're referring to? |

I will assume you are referring to the end of Banner of the Stars III So you are saying that the anime was terrible because of the ending, when the guy couldn't fulfill his "dream" ? *Shrug* you do realize that Jinto's biggest wish was Spoiler:
It seems to me that you are complaining that despite the fact that he got to eat the cake, he didn't get the cherry on top as well

Yeah I guess, but come on he couldn't go back! that's so sad, and the meeting at the end was sad too I forgot what Lafiel said in english, something like "I am his world blah blah" except for the blah blah bit
(Tbh I wanted to see Jinto and Lafiel with little blue-haired pointy-eared kids running around at the end, kawai! )
