My 5 man team would consist of
1. Naruto (lots of Shadow clones and kyuubi power to confuse the enemy also has Rasengan) 2. Sasuke (Works well with Naruto and they usually show their best when fighting together, also is a well rounded ninja with chidori) 3. Neji (got the eyes to scout well and has nice bloodline abilities) 4. Gaara (just an asskicker) 5. Shikamaru (Has shadow bind for trapping the enemies and letting either Gaara, Naruto, Sasuke, or Neji to finish the enemies off) would like to add a 6th member to just completely make this team pure win 6. Rock Lee (would be a good substitute for any of the characters) This team would trample even the mightiest of jounins i believe |

mine will be
Iruka (dont mess with someone who already did 11 A ranks missions... Leader) Naruto (outnumbering factor, backup) Shino (spying/scouting) Lee (taijustu specialist) Gaara (ninjustu raw power) I cant find any USEFUL genjutsu specialist (sakura needs to improve) |

I'm guessing all of you are excluding Itachi in this right? He is technically only chunnin.
In that case, my team would be: Uchiha Sasuke - Chidori and close range combat Neji - scouter and close range support for Sasuke Naruto - really all he needs to do is summon each time and kagebushin for distraction Gaara - Just join in. Shikamau - the strategic leader. EPYON |

This team would own
Sasuke - Speed ,inteligence,chidori, can predict attacks and see through genjutsu, and also use your opponents jutsu against him/her, works very good with Naruto Naruto - Raw power, kyubi, gamabunta and rasenegan, works very good with Sasuke Neji - Scout, can detect any traps or ambushes, strong guy Shikamaru - Very good strategic guy, kan do the shadowbinding on the opponents and then there comes a chidori and a rasenegan Chouji - A very strong guy, and very underestimated |

I'm quite surprised you guys would include Gaara. Unless you are talking about the manga, Gaara is mightily unstable and is more likely to kill his own teammates too!
 Even at the current point of the manga, I find it unlikely he would trust anyone outside Naruto, Kankuro and Temari, but I am digressing here... ^^Hmm, no manga spoilers so...  Anyway, here's my choice: Shikamaru (Team leader and strategist) Neji (Frontline fighter and scout. Bloodline limit useful for scouting ability and his fighting ability makes him an automatic choice) Naruto (Frontline fighter. Never give up attitude and Kyubi!) Temari (Long range support. Of course, you must have some female to look at... If it is Leaf-only, I would chose Tenten.)since there is no genjutsu specialist in any of the genin or chunin that we know... Sasuke (without cursed seal and before getting his brain messed up by Itaachi) Personally I find it disappointing that Kishimoto gives so little air-time to the girls. Sakura, Ino and Hinata all seem to lack the abilities that would enable them to be promoted to chunin and above. |

Eshu beat me to it but it depends on the mission.
Covert Ops. Shikamaru - quiet and can capture multiple targets Shino - can drain peoples power and scout from a distance, quiet Ino - can get inside secured buildings easily, hides well, not afraid to use her womanly charm if caught Kiba - scout, works well in low visiblity (smoke screens) Neji - scout, silent assassin of the group Search and Destory (pure power team, point me at who I need to kill) Temari - squad leader Naruto Rock Lee - power and speed Chouji - Powerhouse, seems like he could break through walls easier then any body else (good for urban warfare) Gaara (but only if its a day mission and he's had his nap) Guerilla, long term field work in the Jungle or Woods Shino - Squad Leader, through, silent, doesn't underestimate the opponent Kiba - soldier pill, scout, seems like he can rough it Chouji - cook, soldier pill, good stamina, can build chakra back up quickly TenTen - seems like she could quietly take out a large number, long range, not afraid to get dirty Naruto - good endurance, would be good for morale, Kage Bushin could be used to clear traps and attrition tactics Garrisoning, Setting up a beach head (defensive team) Shikamaru - Squad Leader Naruto Gaara Temari Shino - Chose him over Neji because he'd be a better long distance fighter, and if he can leech others Chakra for himself he has better endurance |

Hmm, a good job i searched first before making a new topic...
Sort of deviating from the original topic... Since the topic has manga written on it, i can spoil? Anyhow... Since sasuke has ran off to orochimaru, and assuming naruto doesnt save him from the darkness, who would be the ideal replacement for sasuke in team 7? |

It depends on the mission to me.
For survival: Kiba with Akamaru (They work well in their surroundings.) Shino (With bugs on his side, how can he die?) Hinata (Byakugan to help. She will hopefully make the prescence of conflicts within the team scarce.) (It seems that all of Team 8 has been trained well in survival.) Temari (It helps with someone with leaderships skills and motivation to stay on task.) Naruto (For the stamina and powah!!!!!!) For undercover assasination: Hinata (Seduction j/k... kinda, Byakugan would help and she seems cooperative. She's probably great at inflitration if everyone underestimates her. She also can pass off for someone imprtant and high-class.) Ino (She seemed to do well in Suzume's class and her Mind Transfer would do great! She can use seduction powers as well. Temari (She stays on task and knows her duty despite any alternative thoughts. Lee (If you get him to stay still long enough, he can pass off as a doll if you dress him up.) Shino (Nobody notices him. He's great for finding info!) |

hmmm if i was to put a team together
for assinations tenten- her weapon makes her able to kill from a distance lee- hit and run neji- hit and run sasuke- same i would make neji the leader of the team gorilla warware naruto- name says it all kiba- is also a brawler choji- great hit power shino- his bugs is just as good as kagebushin hinta- her byukagan and her medicine would come in handy i would have naruto as the leader of this team. reason why not shino is because naruto is a better modivator then shino so i think he would bring out their best. plus he to stubborn to let him or his team die in battle protection team neji hinta naruto shino i would have shino the leader of this team. recon team neji shino ino naruto i would have neji the leader of this team sucide mission sasuke naruto neji shino lee i would have sasuke the leader of this team. spy team shikamaru hinta ino sakura tenten i would have shika the team leader and who would make better spys then attractive ladies, and a guy that finds them troublesome. a class spy mission shika -leader ino shino- bugs naruto shadow clones. |

If you were a Hokage and could choose any 3 of the genin/chuunin we've seen so far to go on an A rank mission who would you choose? The genin/chuunin can be good or bad aka it's a dream team.
The mission is to capture "Mange " an S class criminal alive. Why? he developed a terrible artifact that enslaves it's victims by capturing their soul in a chakra rock. How it works is unknown. Manges general ability is primarily based on Genjutsu with some Ninjutsu. What is known about his fighting style is that he prefers to fight at night and never attacks head on. Special consideration for the mission: Kakashi was taken as one one of his slaves. Who would you choose to take on this mission and why? |

I think it would be a pretty pathetic attemp to try and capture Itachi ---sending only three genins. Even three Jounins would still be at disadvantage against the Weasel.
I'd send Gaara, Naruto, and Kabuto *assuming he can summon Manda* |
