Rei always had a 'sharper' image going, with smaller eyes, etc. Yuki is much 'softer', more curves in her hair, larger eyes, I think smaller body. Rei's also a little taller, from memory.

Yes, but it's a consistant difference which makes it a character difference.

I think it's just because the Haruhi anime draws characters with a larger head to size ratio than Evangelion did. They're not actually taller, just drawn with different proportions. You notice that Rei is allot shorter next to adult characters than Yuki is.

So in actuality, Yuki as a high school student is at the least probably not shorter than Rei.

Perhaps it's just perception then. That said, visual design usually reflects character design (and overall show mentality), so I'd think that what I said would be true. Although I guess that in itself is also an artstyle thing. Arrrgh...

Perhaps the adults that show up in Haruhi are just unusually short for adults... or the NGE adults are unusually tall. Gendo almost looks like a giant in that pic...

Anyway, Nagato was clearly inspired by Rei, although I don't know if it's fair to call Nagato a"Rei clone".

Considering we nominally know the SOS-dan character heights from here, the first bit doesn't seem likely. And the NGE adults may only look tall because the children are only junior high school.
