I don't see a problem with characters having a single ability. It's how the ability is used that really counts. I mean, look at One Piece. You wouldn't think powers like a rubber body would be all that useful at first, but Luffy makes use of it in real versatile ways, does he not? And that's not counting all of the other strange abilities we see throughout the series....

And actually, we've already sorta had a hint of how Izuku can use One For All in unique ways. Remember how he focused all his power into a single finger for the test?


Anyway, translated chapter 9 is out, in case anyone missed it. Yep, looks like the English scans are nearly halfway caught up with the raws! Also, I love ch. 9's color page....

I agree, I like that everyone has only one power. If they had a ton of different abilities thats cool and all but making one ability so versatile it makes it more interesting to see. Just like the character is developing so is the power.

His one for all is the accumulated strength of hundreds of people. This doesnt have to be limited to muscle power. If the author wants he can make him able to use the intelligence of all of them or other things it can be a versatile power.

...wow in a way this power is kinda similar to the avatar state.

^Yeah, that's another thing: The fact that One For All is an inherited ability means that Izuku could eventually accumulate experience from all the past wielders of that power, not just All Might alone. And even if that's not the case, remember that the author made it a point to show us that Izuku had a hobby of closely analyzing his favorite heroes' powers. That would definitely come in real handy in forming strategies against future opponents....

Actually i think that abilies come from character defects , main character is a decent person so he doesnt have a quirk but i may not be right about it .

Chapter 20 is translated in Chinese, and looks like this is the beginning of our first major story arc.

Spoiler for Chapter 20:

All Might has indeed overexerted himself to beat the brain monster, a fact that only Izuku notices. He's using the last of his strength to act tough in order to scare away the remaining two villains.

However, the plan doesn't work out, as black mist guy manages to convince Shigaraki to attack All Might together. When the attack almost connect, Izuku manages to jump in to grab the mist guy using One For All, an act which fractures his legs. Angered that their attacks were intercepted, Shigaraki attempts to kill Izuku, but was stopped by the timely arrival of the other teachers of Yuuei, whom are brought over by Iida.

Realizing that they're seriously outnumbered, Shigaraki escapes using the portal created by the mist guy, but not before promising that he'll kill All Might the next time they meet. As the battle draws to a close, Izuku expresses his frustration, as he was unable to do anything to help. However, All Might (in his skinny form) assures his protege that he would be dead if it wasn't for Izuku's timely intervention.

Sounds about right then, that All Might's chapters are numbered. That sounds like a death flag to me.
And his death can only be a catalyst for Izuku

Man, out of all those other teachers from the academy that appeared, the cowboy hero with the gas mask is definitely my favorite design! Also, I think Shigaraki/hand guy mentioned something about having a boss, yes? It wouldn't surprise me, personally. I'm also guessing that the villains will go ahead and fetch brain guy too, since they were forced to escape.


Oh, and what was up with that part around the beginning of the chapter with the thunder kid being held hostage? Did he get captured because he ran out of energy or something? Because he did a pretty good number against the villains earlier....

Well, Shigaraki mentioned about "a certain someone" tipping him off that All Might was past his prime, but he's starting to doubt the information after seeing how the brain thing gets beat.

As for Denki (thunder kid), his Quirk's main weakness is that if he generates too much electricity, his mind would temporarily goes blank (represented by the derp face). The guy who took him hostage actually survives the massive electric discharge from last chapter since he also has a electricity based Quirk. However, the hostage situation was resolved off panel, so I can only assume that it was the teachers who saved the day.

Hmm, if Shigaraki was tipped off about All Might, it kinda makes me wonder if perhaps one of the teachers at Yuuei is a traitor? All the staff there is aware of All Might's weak "true" form, after all....


And I see, that skull villain also had thunder powers. Too bad that hostage thing got taken care of off-panel, though. Though personally, I still think it's possible the girls saved thunder kid since that earphone girl seemed to be setting up something....

recently followed this manga...
somehow I have same feeling with Reborn when I read this.
It has potential as long as the character didn't rot easily

I can't wait until the moment he could really master All Might power
It might take tons of chapters though
and they might expand the story until graduating, working as heroes, and retirement
