A bit exposure-heavy to my taste, especially given that Misaki's reintroduction is, save for the setting, the exact same as it was in Railgun S, which is a shame. There's tons of things you could do with her character rather than reproduce the exact same situation. Overall, maybe I struggled with this episdoe because I get my immersion easily broken by infodumping. But hey, I'd kinda forgotten it's been seven years since Railgun S, so I guess it was a necessary refresher for some viewers.

Glad to see that the production value of this third season hasn't dropped to the level of a certain other third season, and boy does this opening has me hyped. Let's see where this season takes us now.

The opening theme and sequences are weak and underwhelming as hell.

Maybe my expectations are just that low after Index S3 but I felt like this first episode was pretty damned strong. Made a good work of reminding me on who most of the characters were (it's honestly been long enough to forget) and it felt like the Railgun I remember.

I also think the OP works with the visuals quite well. It's not top tier yet like previous ones but it's really hard to get lightning to strike multiple times in a row and Railgun had pretty kickass OPs overall so unreasonable expectations.

Misaki's willingness to apply mind control to every situation bothers me a fair bit. Especially since what I've seen from side material makes me believe that her followers would be quite willing to do whatever she asks anyway, without any need for such heavy-handedness.

Someone pls correct me if I remember it wrong, but I am fairly sure specifically girls of Misaki's clique consented to be mind controlled.
