Basic introduction

I'd also like to add that we have EN Vtubers too.
Some of you may have heard of Nyanners, and she recently started Vtubing. (officially) You could argue that she was always a Vtuber even before this.

I follow practically all of Hololive (Houshou Kaizoku-dan forever) and Nijisanji + several independent ones

Speaking of rabbit, Pekora is catching up to Tsukino Mito already. Really happy for her seeing how much effort she puts in

BTW, I can't believe Matsushita (of utaite fame) is supposedly a VTuber now and in top 10 ranking to boot.

EDIT: Maybe general anime is better sub than chat for this thread?

I was conflicted about this tbh, but I feel "general anime" is strictly anime discussion. Thought that being said. Vtuber taking my interest of anime lol.

Don't follow any, but I might watch one if they are first-time playing/reacting to a game I like.

That said, I can't help but see these groups of people as "VAs who can't get a job as a VA so they are doing this instead-people".

I think It's the other way around. I'm sure some VAs wish they could be Vtubers, instead.
I know more about Hololive than other Vtubers so I'll just talk about that but

Watame earned 150K, Haato earned 140K and Miko 250K under a year. (all 3 mentioned above)
If we go for the to top ends, Kiryu Coco earned 500,000 US dollars(not Yen) in 5 months.
The average US annual income is 60~70K

Perhaps the pandemic boosted things, but than, why doesn't everyone become a vtuber ?
As it turns out, vtubing, just like voice acting is a specific skillset.
Not everyone can pull it off

Most are either singers or trying to become singers/idols. VA role isn't really all that attractive TBH

Huge portion goes to Youtube though. And several of them still see themselves in the mainstream music/entertainment industry in future...Suisei for one. Watame and Pekora too I think. Tsukino Mito herself is still a JK (I think?) but has loads of advertising contracts so easily entering entertainment industry also

And I really don't see them doing this for 10 years straight lol......Their bodies will break first seeing some of their streaming schedules unless they tone down the intensity

I can see some them being youtubre for long time thought. maybe coco and korone. but yeah some will mostly "graduate" if the get better offer

Coco is also usually involved working with Nico Nico Douga events IIRC, but she needs to get her sleep issues sorted out. That stream where she just conked out from sleeping pills....<__< Was really concerned there

Polka's debut was the most fun. She sounds like Marine at times, laughs like Pekora and has the energy of Haachama. Great range of voice and nice when singing.

Barely after 5th gen's release, Aloe is in cold storage since she got doxxed and leaked.....Seriously otakus and YAGOO?! They also ditched her since her relationship got outted. She had to break with her boyfriend as a result.

Hope she continues seeing him behind all their backs even if she has to take higher privacy measures. Coz creepy otaku need to stop holding pop culture creators hostage
