So far, Clive using the abilities similar to Nero and Dante, making use of its properties (launch, fast attack, element damage) rather than displaying full control. So we can expect one or two Dominators to be playable through DLC like Vergil who use katana completely different than Nero and Dante.
Besides, XV DLC in past were trying to offer various gameplay as Tabata once confirmed Aranea got Dragoon gameplay while Lunafreya got Summoner gameplay before the project cancellation. Knowing Yoshi-P, very small chance he's not doing the same. LOL.

Quote:
Even if Clive can't transform into the other Eikon for story reasons (and because the Eikon fights look cinematic anyway), he effectively as all their abilities in human combat anyway. If you look at the trailer again, you can see Attack and Aero getting swapped out for more advanced abilities. You can see Clive use Odin's Gungnir too. |

Claim to know what?
Clive moveset in this trailer resemble some of Nero and Dante moveset, which understandable as they hired DMC staff to works on battle system. Besides every FF XIV players that watched its Live Letter knew Yoshi-P cares about player experiences and value job class as FF identity, wouldn't mind to force player playing as other characters for narrative too. So it would be amazing if he completely disregard chance to expand on it in XVI just because Clive is MC who will obtain everything. On top of that SE does have track record of incorporating Eidolon to certain playsytle that is XIII. Assigning Odin to Lightning, modern take of Knight job; Shiva to tank-focused Snow; Bahamut to Fang, a Dragoon. So its not totally out of possibilities. Clive have Gungnir doesn't stop other character for using it differently either. In FF XV Noctis can use broadsword and gun, but he got nothing of Gladio's mastery and Prompto firearms knowledge (machine gun, bazooka). I believe this will be how they handle fighting-capable Dominants, Clive got their stuff but their original owner will be more capable on certain aspect if they ever became playable. ![]()

Once again you're comparing apples to oranges.
A MMO that needs constant updates to drive engagement is not the same thing as a single player console game that needs the base product to sell before the DLC. Most of the MMO's code is hosted server-side, which makes it easier for the developers to patch the game compared to a console game that already gone gold. You also keep using FF15 as an example when it's possibly the worst example you could give. With the game's historically troubled development, the base game was not designed to support character switching. This is shown with the noticeably long time lag when switching from one character to another: since the party members all operated under different mechanics, the game has to inefficiently force itself to switch game logic every time you switch characters. If FF16 is going to support party members, then the game mechanics has to be designed to support it before launch. Expecting another FF15 scenario is entirely inefficient and unrealistic. |

Apple and orange can't even think of looking feedback from each other on how to make themselves tastier.
Both fruits also didn't involved in talk with Toriyama, Kitase and Nomura about "How to do DLC for Final Fantasy" as development cost for long run matters. VII Remake already proven the staffs learned from XV to respect limit to made things possible while Intergrade did well on telling this is how FF VII R will do additional content. Surely you won't say XVI staffs better not learn something from their workmates; Good if you have better solution on how to do the games without learning something from them, because I'm pretty sure Yoshida understand decision behind Tabata way of handling development cost by planning lores and other weapons specific gameplay behind DLC as it similar to how XIV did some part on its storytelling. Honestly there's no harm on doing main game focused on Clive and his party while DLC expand Hugo and others while offering other classes to play assuming they're not playable. Both Yoshida staffs and DMC staff have the experience, the only concern is how to strike balance between value and price unless they decided either No DLC or going with Special Edition / Intergrade.

Looks like YoshiP has confirmed that there will be an ai party. Essentially meaning you only control Clive like Sora in kingdom hearts.

Hopefully they worked a lot on the AI. I don't mind playing only Clive as long as the rest of the party don't become hindrances. I'm just happy it won't be a lone wolf story and there'll be companions.

Considering speculation so far, it will be based on XIV TRUST system as alot of Japanese FF players expected carry-over from XIV considering relatively fast XVI will be released.
Not to mention, by trailer launch, Japan PS blog kinda spoiled about Clive and party to be Sora-like party (player as Clive/Sora, the others are AI) and open world aspect will be limited to outside the town (inside the town will be traditional loading screen transition). In recent Famitsu interview: - At game start, you will given choice of "Story Mode" or "Action Mode". "Story Mode" is the Easy difficulty while "Action Mode" is Normal. - Yoshida said its possible for players to just run straight to ending, this is because surveys he initiated during XVI shown games nowadays have low completion rate. - FF XVI will have higher difficulty, score attack and challenge mode, and yes, Yoshida said it will be "restricted equipment, aggressive enemies" and "against group of enemies through levels" which means something akin to Dante Must Die and Bloody Palace for DMC. - You can give party AI instruction - XVI project is started roughly during Stormblood expansion of XIV. - Yoshida expressed XVI to be a high-class high-speed roller coaster. - Yoshida considered XVI as full action game. https://www.famitsu.com/news/202206/22265843.html

This has me pumped Watching the trailer again. When they show the illustration of all the Eikons in the book. They all seem to be lined up similar to the Kabbalah. Looks confirmed that Jill is indeed Shiva but casts doubt if Clive is actually the one who transformed to Ifrit to fight Phoenix.

The man is about quality. He’ll put out a finished product instead of putting out something that needs multiple dlcs, movies, etc to finish telling the story like 15 had to. It was a big deal for him when Endwalker had to be pushed back due to issues.
Im a big fan of his brutal takedown towards developers who don’t even play their own games lmao

New image confirms definitively that Jill is Shivas dominant. Seemed obvious though
