I was expecting a cute romcom like Takagi-san... but I was not prepared for Kubo being THIS FREAKING CUTE. Like wow. She pushes every button of mine. She's a total pixie girl or whatever they're called but I don't care, let me bask in that cuteness every week.
Interactions with the MC were pretty good too. Out of all the anime teasing girls out there, Kubo seems the most innocuous. She does what she does to help Shiraishi and get closer to him. She's also pretty straightforward but since this seems to be one of those romcoms with very little progression, I assume they'll hit the brakes soon.

That was absolute cuteness! Kubo might just run away with this season. HanaKana bringing her absolute best here. She was already doing amazing work this season. Voicing two great girls this season in Kobayashi and Kubo. Most of the dialogue was the main pair so they really got a chance to let the voice actors shine. Everything just lands nicely. The OP was a treasure trove of cute, but the episode itself also had a ton of great expressions.
And wow this girl doesn't hesitate when she wants something. She's already got a picture of the two of them together, got his "Pine" information, got to sit in his lap, and has promises of future "outings" together. She's just on a roll and that girl in love expression at the end was just beautiful. Shiraishi is actually pretty good as well. He's dealing with a troublesome situation pretty well. He goes ahead and lets the teacher know he's been to class, puts up with being treated like an urban legend, and doesn't immediately roll over for everything with Kubo. He did have to be pressured quite a bit for the silly standing in class stuff. He's a bit oblivious and might take a while for him to realize this girl likes him, but he's a nice guy. If we put all the teasing girls into one category, Kubo might be the most pleasant of them all. Everything she does is cute. It's not like Takagi where it's all vs competitions (which yes not all of that is on her), or Nagatoro's aggressiveness, or Uzaki being actively annoying at times. Kubo's just relatively active. And Shiraishi's situation is rather extreme. So even some teasing actually helps him get some attention and participate in class. She's getting things out of it, but it is good for him to get opportunities to be part of his own class.

I mean, suspension of disbelief for the whole conceit is required, as it's rather silly. But it's like like Junta is literally invisible - other people see him if he makes a spectacle of himself. I would imagine Kubo is seen as the girl who takes an odd interest in the mob character.

This was as good as expected. I've read some of the manga, so I know the chemistry between the leads are good. The animation is very crisp and vibrant. Kubo is cute when she's teasing, but never to the point where she feels like she's bullying Shiraishi. I absolutely love her eyes; the color, their expressions.... they are just so beautiful =03. Shiraishi himself does get flustered sometimes, but never over-the-top with his flusteredness when he does(well, he did when he "disappeared", but I found that pretty funny surprisingly). And although he misinterprets her intentions(it seems clear she likes him), he still can communicate to her is a normal fashion; no random stuttering and other such awkwardness.
Seems like Kubo's sister also good at reading her face. Maybe that's why Kubo's so good at spotting Shiraishi; i.e. their family is super perceptive to the people they like/care about. Seeing these two interact with each other animated really gets me excited thinking about whenever Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu is gonna come out.

I never thought about it before, but being invisible to everybody would mean you could get away with sleeping in class and nobody would bother you...although I don't think a sleeping Shiraishi would be as cute as sleepy Kubo
![]() Gym clothes and ponytail Kubo! Undershirt Kubo! Even Shiraishi can't deny the power of a ponytail! And you've got Kubo outright smelling him and giving him her body wipes so they can smell the same. Girls got it bad, and she won't let her gal pals share her personal scent with Shiraishi ![]() Kubo observing Shiraishi in his native environment of a bookstore! He's struggling with pressing the automatic door! Which leads to an excuse for her to touch his hands so naturally, which was cute. This reminded me a lot of that Takagi-san chapter where Takagi and Nishikata go to a book store together and Takagi susses out what books Nishikata is into so she can read them herself...only the first volume is missing, which I can totally relate to, but Kubo instantly jumps at an opportunity to find out where Shirashi lives. Girl wastes no time, especially if it means finding out they actually live close to each other and when he leaves for school so they can finally go together ![]() Morning routine Kubo! Kubo in various hairstyles! Whatever style Kubo looks amazing, although if only she knew how effective the ponytail was ![]() I see Akina is very aware of why her sister is acting differently lately and isn't being subtle about it, not that Kubo is subtle with her own feelings to begin with, and she seems keen on assisting her sister with her love life...I'm almost disappointed she wasn't home when Kubo showed up ![]() Ah, the couples' first day going to school together! So sweet! And we even got Shiraishi meeting her friends ![]() Well, it was nice of Kubo to take the splash for that woman even if she didn't even notice he was there, but that lets Kubo step up because she always sees him/looks at him! Bonus points for eventually giving her an excuse to take him home ![]() I was wondering if anything embarrassing would happen between these two while Shiraishi was at her house and catching sight of Kubo's bra fits the bill. Nice save though. Also got to wear her clothes, which is doubly nice Shiraishi-kun ![]()

Another adorable episode. And I'm loving Kubo's sister. Just a great tease in her own right and is right on top of her little sister's crush. Of course Kubo just isn't that good at hiding her feelings anyways. So plenty of hints already are there for her friends and family to pick up on. At least it won't let her take it that easy when they can tell how she's feeling.
Kubo should definitely lean on ponytail power. That stuff is elite! Just a lot of cute moments in a cute show. Shiraishi is a lot of fun in his own right. His situation can be a bit rough, but the show knows how to find some comedy with it where it can. So it's just nice to have a pair of leads that are both enjoyable in their own ways.

I'd say Kubo seems to be slowly turning into a stalker, but it's not like her presence is unwanted by Shiraishi so she's in the clear.
I really like Kubo and Shiraishi's dynamic. Some people would call it boring but it's just really cute. And I like the irony that the most popular girl in class and possibly the whole school has to go out of her way to get noticed by the guy who is invisible to everyone.

He totally noticed the mist but kubo should know he won’t say it.
Anime really shows how kubo is in love with him. The manga gave me the feeling she was more like interested and having fun with him that being in love like that until a certain chapter. Still is better this way. |
