Eh sure. Honestly even without the supernatural stuff it was already looking like a decent show. In some ways it kind of stumbled a bit after that. Since the MC is struggling to keep up with what is going on and yet has effectively stumbled his way into being engaged.
Goes to show that you can't let the batteries run dry until after you finish. No point pulling an all-nighter to finish something if you pass out before handing it in! As someone well versed in procrastinating to that stage I can speak from experience ![]() Shiori seems really nice. Definitely has her quirks. But in a sense whatever connection her people have with each other leaves her being pretty forward when dealing with regular humans that don't have that. Needing to really push to ask if Ichiro needed help. And clearly he did. Considering the state he was in even with her helping him all night...there's no way he would have finished on time without. I can't even imagine how unfinished things would have been if she didn't show up when she did. A huge save there ![]()

'Til death brings us together.
So Shiori decides to pursue a career as a manga assistant after the one who made her love manga, her grandmother, passed away. Meanwhile, Ichiro had always been a manga artist, but the death of his father and the sudden moving away of his mother had forced him to be the breadwinner of two younger siblings. Good thing he was left with an apartment with tenants. I personally found the setup a bit weird. Can't explain how, but it just feels off. Hopefully, subsequent episodes would stumble a bit less. That said, Shiori's personality is interesting; while being quite aloof, she is passionate and has a good insight of Ichiro's character. Now I wonder why Shiori decided to eat alone during her first dinner. Is she following some sort of custom from the Meteor Country (which doesn't seem that far away from Japan)? Or it's a way to avoid Ichiro from touching her "thorn"?

The show seems to be a romantic comedy, but I am not sure if the story has any romance or comedy.
The story starts with a beauty sailing away from an island. The islander comments that the princess is searching for her love. Then a guy wakes up his room, and he is in desperate to find assistants. The story feels like The Comic Artist and His Assistants. He is also the landlord of his apartment, left behind by his loved ones, and his tenants don't bother him. The story then feels like Maison Ikkoku. It turns out the heroine is his would be assistant. She becomes fan of his yuri manga(?) Even she does not receive any in-person training, her drawing skill is considered good for professional manga artist. Their first interview ends up spending days in his bedroom(and studio) for hours. To meet the publisher's deadline, they are exhausted. He notices she has a pen stabbing at her back. He then experiences the galaxy. She wakes her and tells him that only her husband can touch her whatever-it-is. She does not want to marry him because he touches her. She wants to have a marriage due to love. So, they starts relationship by becoming friends(?) They don't seem to have much personality conflicts. So, it would not be problem for them to be together. It is hard to image what story will be, since people around them are being nice and understanding. Last edited by scififan; 2023-04-09 at 16:58. |

I'm curious to see how much the fact that the heroine usn't human will be used in the story, are they going to explore their differences from a cultural and maybe biological standpoint or it's simply a setup for having them accidentally engaged?

Hmmm... not sure what to think about this one. There are a few things that are a bit off-putting, like MC being a bit scatterbrained when he needs to be extra diligent with his work due to his siblings, and the younger sister talking like she's an adult, but otherwise it was okay. MC just reached his independence, only to lose it by the death of his father. Although I feel that he would be exactly the same, even without having to take care of his siblings, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he has a lot on his plate than just manuscripts. So it wouldn't be surprising if he falls behind while taking care of those things.
fMC seems very "standard"; straightforward, diligent, nice. Frankly I found her kinda boring. I do hope its like Lex79 said, and we'll see her in a more "seriously quirky" manner due to her upbringing, alien, or otherwise?

I was optimistic after the first episode but now I'm not so sure -- this feels really sort of bland especially on the same day as the Yamadas (Level 999 and BokuYaba). I might give it another episode but there's so much on Saturdays already its hard to justify.

OP and ED subs! And they fit the subject matter of this soothing cosmic romance
![]() So Shiori isn’t from space but an island that was infected by a microorganism that came down with a meteor and gave everyone and their offspring psychic powers? That lets them speak telepathically and induce physical reactions in their spouses ![]() I understand how sudden this must feel for Ichiro to find this girl who so readily wants to be with him even though they hardly know each other…and that’s setting aside all the other weirdness surrounding her. Conversely Shiori is much more enthusiastic about their relationship even if she wants to move forward in a way Ichiro is comfortable with ![]() Is that Rie Takahashi as Chibi-Chan ![]() Shiori moves into their apartment building! All the better environment for building up a relationship and getting into romance hijinks ![]() It does seem incredibly inconvenient to be stuck in a dynamic where you physically can’t be parted from your partner lest you get sick…but it does give you an excuse to be intimate with a pretty girl, complete with handholding, so it’s not all bad ![]() Shiori fashion show! Which is all the same outfit! She really likes black dresses. Though she’s pretty into cosplaying as a high school student straight out of a manga ![]() I guess inducing a psychic nosebleed is a good way to ward off unwanted touching, though more of an accident in this case. At least Shiori learned about pickup artists ![]() Wanna bet they won’t find a way to annul the engagement or, by the time they do, Ichiro won’t want to do it ![]() Shiori looks great in pants! She’s rocking that tracksuit look! She just needs to be more careful what she tells Ichiro’s family ![]()
