And either way, as others stated, Megumin also extorts her out of food frequently. I imagine she excuses herself on account of such things as it being her winnings from their fights (despite her always choosing fights she can't lose). Honestly the only big difference between them I'd say is that those two girls targeted Yunyun because they believed she could afford it and was thus an "acceptable target", whereas Megumin would probably go after anyone she thought she could beat, and Yunyun just happens to be very easy to defeat or trick. In any case, I get the feeling that the girls have learned their lesson, which is much more important to me than the fact they did something cruel. |

The difference between Megumin and them is that Yunyun is always the one who challenges Megumin. And to me, that's a big difference. Megumin doesn't fight fair, but she isn't the one asking for fights.

So this whole time Komekko has had her own subplot that basically kicked this all off because she became buddies with a monster and helped it free the Dark God...which turns out to have been Ink this whole time. Oh, and she also stole Bukkororii's lunch that she ends up eating. Komekko is a very eager, determined, and hungry girl
![]() Megumin is a very caring big sister...as a pet owner, not so much. She really was pretty quick to write off Ink as she got kidnapped and spice up the excuse in the most Megumin way possible. It's not even Yunyun's cat and she seems like the only one who actually cared ![]() Komekko as a child is enough to intimidate some monsters just with her pure adorable grit, just imagine how dangerous she'll be when she grows up ![]() Yunyun unlocking her magic to save Komekko and Ink so Megumin wouldn't have to was very heroic and caring on her part. And Yunyun actually gets to do some cool stuff! Even Megumin can't help but admit to herself internally how great Yunyun is, even thinking of her as her genuine rival, and that she can't just abandon Yunyun. As much as these two bicker and argue (and Megumin immediately regretted promising to help Yunyun before she could bail and leave her), they really do care about each other ![]() Who knew the day would be saved thanks to Megumin killing a duck? And with all she needs to unlock her true power, Megumin finally unleashes her first EXPLOSION! with all the gravitas, stunning visuals, and power it deserves as she incinerates a bunch of monsters in one blast ![]() I love how Soketto recognized that this was all kind of Komekko's fault and Megumin shouldn't let her play with the seals of Dark Gods, and that Megumin's future party is...going to be something. Also all that blurred out footage of the main series ![]() Wow, Megumin and Yunyun both graduated! And now they're together having to make a life for themselves post-school! And Megumin formally names Ink into Chomusuke, who just seems confused by the whole thing. What will these two get into next and what about their classmates ![]()

While Megumin's willingness to give up on Kuro at a moment's notice is a bit concerning, I did like the moments after. Megumin preparing to give up on learning explosion magic anytime soon to save her sister. Or rather rationally knowing that is the right thing to do in that situation, but not being able to bring herself to do it. Even the life of her sister only made it all the more agonizing.
Yunyun really stepped up there. And it ate at Megumin even more that she made the sacrifice so Megumin wouldn't have to. Even though learning that spell would mean she'd have to graduate and learning advanced magic would take her longer and require being exposed to danger if she wanted to do it. But Yunyun still made that choice. To protect Megumin's sister and to protect Megumin's dreams. Just...too bad that her sacrifice was mostly unnecessary. Megumin could have learned explosion magic on the spot if she just looked at her skill points for a second ![]() Komekko is a treasure. No shame whatsoever in rushing out first to steal her sister's thunder ![]() Good for Megumin in finally unleashing the explosion she had waited for!

I am as bad at connecting the dots as Megumin is. Komekko basically did the exact same thing Megumin did all those years ago and released the Dark God from its seal (the half that was left, anyway)... which was actually Chomusuke. We knew Chomusuke was no normal cat but it's still pretty wild. And it looks like big breasted explosion lady is coming back to get her next week.
Yunyun was the real heroine of the episode. She did not hesitate a single second to use up her points to learn intermediate magic instead of advanced in order to rescue Komekko.

One thing that should be noted was that Soketto's fortune-telling session was a bit longer in the LN: while she did pause at the sexual harassment, she does say that it is a good future that she wants to come true so she opts not to tell Megumin.

Megumin has mastered explosion magic! Only that's really the only thing she has going for her, so she's basically a jobless NEET who only knows how to blow stuff up despite her best efforts. What's a girl to do (other than blow stuff up)
![]() Well, at least Yunyun's still got her back as a fellow NEET as the two girls struggle to hold jobs and not make fools of themselves, which is pretty hard when they're getting beat up by potatoes ![]() Megumin really setting Yunyun's expectations up with that "date." I'm starting to ship these too ![]() I don't know what's funnier, Megumin faking the Mad Exploder's identity when she gets caught after randomly exploding stuff, her description turning out to be an actual demon woman who shows up the very next day, or how quickly Megumin tries to pin it all on her when Bukkororoi shows up. And she got a hole in her roof for it ![]() You can't have this attractive demon lady coming into Megumin's life trying to get Chomusuke because Chomusuke is actually her mask her, call her Lady Wolbach, and not make me think Chomusuke has some hot human form just waiting to be unleashed ![]() Last episode made me really question Megumin's pet owner skills, and here she totally sells the cat off for money. Good money mind you, but still ![]() I went from being almost intimidated by Arnes to feeling completely bad for her being cursed to constantly be preyed upon and surrounded by worthless men who use, betray, and manipulate her. No wonder she has mental trauma over "promises" or the presence of a bunch of worthless men is enough to send her running for the hills ![]() Well, Megumin is off to her destiny as an adventurer! And she won't be back until a movie later down the line! But at least she got to have a sweet sendoff with her sister and even Yunyun. She's even holding a spot for Yunyun in her demon army ![]() It was also nice how she got gifts from the other girls to complete her iconic look, the staff from Funifura (whose brother actually was sick and she's too much of a brocon to have made it up) and Arue's eyepatch who is suddenly starts talking like a mature, real, person because she's secretly always wanted to be an author (lord knows this village gives her plenty of material). But the most meaningful of all is the cape from Yunyun ![]() Looks like Megumin is running afoul of our favorite cult next week, complete with Yunyun joining up with her ![]()

Well, at least we cleared up the speculation about those two and the medicine. Good to know that they really aren't low enough to try and trick Yunyun out of money for some frivolous reasons, though they were low enough to specifically target her as an "acceptable" target to seek money from.

She should stay far, far away from Megumin and her family. Which is an advice I'd give most people, really ![]() I know the Konosuba cast are all scum but this show makes Megumin seem the scummiest of them all. Quote:

I feel like the anime is specifically trying to make Arnes more sympathetic for some reason. I don't recall half of what happened here being in the manga.
Now it's making me wonder if the original anime/movie was this divergent from the source material too, or if this is new to this spinoff. |

Those who think that she's worse than the rest clearly haven't seen the main KonoSuba in a long time. Neither Aqua nor Kazuma would hesitate for a moment to do anything and everything Megumin has done and then some; Kazuma would proudly declare that there's no way he wouldn't do it, and Aqua would declare that she deserves whatever she wants because she's a goddess. Only Darkness would protest, and that's really mostly because fame, fortune and luxury aren't going to motivate her. Offer to abuse her, though, and she'll rant, panting, about how she's being forced while gleefully going above and beyond. In short, every last one of them is quite willing to do everything we've seen and then some in pursuit of their desires.

Aqua would just try to exorcise her because she inherently hates demons and the undead. Darkness would've refused the money. I would argue that only Kazuma would've done the same thing. |

I happen to be watching the main KonoSuba for the first time as I watch this show, and you've got that right. No way is Megumin the scummiest. Self-centered and overly focused on her goals, yes, but that doesn't make a person scummy.
