Didn't say she couldn't be scummy. Just that the others aren't really better. Kazuma wouldn't hesitate for a moment to abandon everyone (and tried on occasion). Aqua would have asserted that they should be honored that their sacrifice would serve to increase a goddess's glory and luxury. Darkness would protest, but I'm betting if there was any hint that doing this would have her rewarded with torture, she'd find some reason to accept. Is Megumin scummy? Yes. Is she worse than the rest of the party? No.

And to answer you, I haven't watched Konosuba since it aired so your assessment is correct. I'm probably misremembering just how bad they were. I'll rewatch it if a third season ever gets made.

Megumin has made her way to Arcanretia! Land of Hot Springs and Cults dedicated to a useless Goddess !

It's just too bad work is as slim picking here as it was for her back home...although we do get to see Megumin in a cute waitress outfit! Too bad she got sexually harassed at work and lost her job for her response to it .

Of course when Megumin tries to do something heroic she ends up saving an Axis Cult member who was basically committing numerous crimes against the Eris Sect...and who then brings in a constable to arrest the people she'd basically been harassing the entire time. Hot constable lady though .

I never expected to hear Ai Fairouz as an Axis Cult member, but Cecily is a busty beauty befitting her talents !

Was the Axis Cult always made up of lolicons? I mean, they've always been weirdos, but still. Father Zesta seems like the worst of the lot though, which means of course he gets paired with Megumin .

Honestly if it had been Megumin and Cecily, I wonder if Megumin's plans to get convertee's would've worked. As it is, Zesta kept screwing them up and getting them into more trouble. No wonder Megumin was pretty much done with them .

Yunyun followed Megumin! Sure it's partially because Soketto asked her to go, but still! Even brought Chomuske with her! Of course she reunites with Megumin just as she's humiliating herself trying to help the Axis Cult, and rolls her up, but that's business as usual for these two .

(Did I spot Megumin's panties when she was lying there in front of Megumin?)

Father Zesta is under arrest? Really it's less of a question of why he's being arrested so much as which crime they're actually arresting him for. Treason is a bit much even for this creep, but he's not helping his case by trying to assault the lady knight apprehending him .

I love how the Axis Cult stops caring when they realize they don't even need Zesta. I guess Megumin will feel responsible enough because of the Crimson Demon Clan's involvement that she just can't let it go though .

I've felt that way about the last couple episodes too but it feels like the show has found its groove. This episode was pretty much exactly what I expect from KonoSuba. Really funny stuff.

I can't be sure but this could possibly be the one anime episode where the word "loli" was said the most. Those Axis cultists were going nuts when Megumin showed up

Kind of surprised Megumin didn't show the slightest bit of shame when they went there in the main series and all the cultists kept accosting them with the annoying methods she taught them (though judging by the number of followers in the town at that point, those tactics seemed to work very well).

And yeah, it did look like the animators were trying to slip in a panty shot this ep. Kind of hard to tell, maybe they'll clean it up for the Blu-ray.

Well, the meta-explanation, of course, is that this was written after the main series. But if you want to do a retcon, you can say that Megumin's behavior in the main series was motivated by embarrassment at seeing all those gimmicks in action and/or fear that someone would recognize her and out her to the rest of her party.

Looked around to see what other novel spinoffs Konosuba had; turns out the author of Reincarnated As a Vending Machine and NPCs in this Village Sim Game Must Be Real wrote a Konosuba spinoff series as well. It focuses on events from the perspective of Dust, that other blonde pervert adventurer.

In the LN, Megumin explains that the customers told her to get lost because kids don't belong in the tavern. She asked what part makes her a kid, and they retorted "height and chest size"

Well, Father Zesta is currently in custody, but he'll probably enjoy getting interrogated by a busty lady knight, so no worries there. In fact, the Axis Cult is happy to replace him! Even got one guy trying to promote free love, even incest .

Cecily really living that Aqua spirit of doing whatever you want, whenever you want. Even caring more about tasting some slime than actually solving this case. Not that Megumin and Yunyun are much better, they're just half-tempted to bail. Not that I blame them .

Oh hey, Sena! I wasn't expecting her to turn up! And she managed to clear Zesta, though it brought the poor girl to tears. And then he lords over his innocence to the female knight who arrested him, and couldn't help but comment on her chest. Yeah, that sounds about right .

Arnes is back! And Zesta can't stop commenting on her luscious body and skintight leotard outfit! Too bad she's a demon and the only thing the Axis Cult is actually competent at is trying to kill demons, though them pinning all the crimes on Arnes and going full "purge the demon" on her in force actually just made me feel bad for Arnes. She barely did anything .

Poor Yunyun just wants to be with Megumin but she doesn't make it easy for her .

Can't beat bathing Cecily with her bountiful bosom on full display! Even if she is perving on Megumin while they're in the bath together .

Wait, so Zesta DID do it!? Jeez. All that for basically nothing. Well, Cecily has blackmail material which is pretty on-point for this storyline .

It would be a waste to not have Megumin deliver an explosion, delivering a bigger Hot Springs for everybody to enjoy (though Zesta won't get his mixed bathing)! And she did it while completely naked! Nice .

"In the Axis Order, we believe anything goes, as long as it's not illegal!" even though we've seen them commit maybe a 3-5 crimes across across this entire arc. But this is the Axis Cult we're talking about .

Well, it was nice of the Axis Cult to give Megumin the money she needed to get to Axel (they could care less about Yunyun), although it was very satisfying when she threw the recruitment form in Cecily's face .

Everything's all set up...the Axis Cult taking Megumin's methods for recruitment for themselves, Megumin off to Axel with high aspirations with her future party that will not hold up to reality, and planning to return to Arcanretia in the future (which we know will happen) .

One thing I don't get is, that one candidate was surrounded by men and he encouraged the legalization of polyandry. I'd understand him encouraging polygamy or polygyny (multiple marriage and multiple wives respectively) but polyandry would only mean that the guys listening will have to share a wife. That one point just doesn't seem like something that would attract many men, yet he's surrounded by guys.

Also, I half expected the package Megumin got at the end to be some sort of embarrassing outfit, given how excited Miss Cecily was to be around a bona fide loli.

So then, would polygyny be more accurate? Or is general polygamy (woman can have many husbands, man can have many wives) also written with the same kanji?

On a different note, the distinction of "demons" makes it make a lot more sense why the LN translators translated the "Crimson Demons" as the "Crimson Magic Clan" to better distinguish the two. Was probably either that or call them Crimson Demons and have the "Akuma" be called "devils", as some other series have done.
