In other news: http://www.jefusion.com/2012/01/toei...in-sentai.html Apparently Toei is making a second sentai series for 2012. Akibaranger is obviously a parody of some sort, but nobody knows if it will be live action, anime, full-length episodes, or short webisodes.

Final review for Gokaiger:
The good: * It's an anniversary show, so there was plenty of fanservice, from multiple former cast appearances to a few old villains, along with the auxiliary mecha. * Each of the Gokaigers got a backstory and character development, with Marvelous and Joe having the best ones. * Walz Gil and Barizorg got backstories and actual personalities beyond simply wanting to take over the world. * Gojyuujin, a robot dinosaur timeship. The bad: * The Gokaiger mecha were not exactly the best. The four other components of Gokai-Oh were among the most useless in sentai. They're not even used in the Kanzen Gokai-Oh formation. There's also the fact that certain of the Grand Power mecha were more useful on their own than when combined with Gokai-Oh. * It would have been nice if Basco got a bit more other than greedy backstabbing asshole (how did Akared not notice this when he recruited him?) * Damaras was a wasted villain. This guy was reputed to be the "Strongest Man in the Universe," but for most of his appearances he was forbidden to leave the Gigant Horse, and when he finally gets the chance to fight, he's shown up by Basco and gets killed just like any MotW without an epic fight. Final Score: 9/10. IMHO the flaws in the show are not enough to detract from its entertainment value. It's definitely better than the disappointing Decade. Next week: It's Morphin' Time! Goodbye spandex, hello pleather!

My main complaint is with the plotline that got left open. Remember when they went and got that heart thing that could revive people, and at the end someone was holding it and supposedly speaking to Akared? Nothing ever came of that.

Gokaiger is a great show imo...the biggest strength is that the story can actually connect to other 34 sentais and make it believable. No more parallel time, parallel universe. I thought it would be like decade as it was impossible to make a real "sequel" after all 34 sentais, and boys, I was wrong. (and I am happy to see I am wrong here)
9/10 and once again, the earth is safe...for one week XD...Go-buster will be our new heroes starting next week ![]()

The green ranger from zyuranger was shown in an episode with other dead rangers in Gai's dream when Gai himself was injured and in coma. So in a sense, Gai was like at the gate of under world and at there he was entrusted by those dead rangers That's why Gokaiger is so enjoyable...script writers used every possible way to convince us that Gokaiger is the "real sequel" and imo, it works out at the end

But it showed the Black Zyuranger in the last few episodes. He, along with the rest of the zyurangers, ascended to heaven or something at the end of their season. And I recall reading that other should-be-dead characters were shown in the Great War battle.

The way I see it, Gokaiger takes place in the Current Sentai vs Previous Sentai universe. Most of those movies (that I've seen, anyway) follow from the ending of the previous show with wrecked mecha repaired and dead characters showing up through some plot device, but is "canon" to neither.

Wow, Akibaranger's suits are interesting. They look funky
![]() Still, is it just me, or the female suits emphasize the breasts too much? It reminds me of that female android from old sentai Liveman (or is it Flashman? I forgot ![]() ![]()
