I liked how they chose to reintroduce the side cast to refresh our memories, by showing them in various states of agony over Mio's cursed cooking, lol.

This was a good show, happy to see it come back. Also happy that I read it so long ago that I have no recollection of what comes

The Goddess did mention to Makoto about them, before she dropped him.

And in the Novel/Manga, Tsukiyomi did ask Makoto to help them if possible as they were practically kidnapped by the Goddess, unlike Makoto who came as per a contract.

It's finally time to shine a light on the other Japanese high schoolers who got Isekai'd along with Makoto! One of whom he's actually familiar with, Hibiki Otonashi, an exceptional young girl voiced by Ai Kakuma, who didn't think much of Makoto herself but thought he was lucky to be more normal and unassuming compared to how she has had to live with being so exceptional she practically coasts through life. And that's before she gets nabbed to another world .

So we finally see what the Rotten Goddess is like to people that meet her standards, appearing all pretty and pleasant and sweet talking you into becoming a Hero to fight demons...for Hibiki, it would be the chance to really prove herself and meet people she could really open up to, even if she isn't quite sure what she's in for. Though getting a sash with a cute dog companion is pretty nice .

And while Hibiki is getting the royal treatment as a Hero Makoto is wandering a wasteland with nothing going for him. Sounds about right .

Time to recruit party members! And who wouldn't want a tan Ami Koshimizu hottie who is deadly with a blade in their party? Especially in that outfit. Though while Hibiki is recruiting her party, Makoto is recruiting Tomoe .

Nothing like saving a Priestess from a Kobold attack to gain your next party member! And Hibiki gets her first kill and gets the resolve to go all out for the sake of her companions. She's pretty fierce in a fight .

Chiya has joined the party! How can they refuse her when she went to the trouble of cutting her hair and threatening to make her people think something bad happened to her if they didn't let her in? She's already getting a good dynamic with the other girls in the party .

And wouldn't you know it, they end up running into Mio in their adventures...and get utterly decimated. They really didn't stand a chance. Though brave of them for trying so hard to the bitter end, though they're lucky they all survived. And now Hibiki wants to settle the score with the first person to deliver her a loss, though I don't think she'd stand any better chance against Mio now .

Hibiki heard about the other Hero getting sent to the neighboring Empire from where she ended up, and said Hero is Tomoki, a pretty boy unhappy with his life of getting bullied, pitied by girls, and unable to really succeed at anything, so he jumps at the chance when Little Girl Goddess lets him live out his Isekai fantasy and reinvent himself .

Of course who wouldn't want to be greeted by a Mai Nakahara voiced Princess when you first end up in your new world? And Princess Lily seems pretty pleasant, busty, and kind but she's much more shrewd than she lets on, especially when she doesn't want to fall so easily for Tomoki .

Nothing builds up a Harem for party like a magical eye that charms any woman who locks eyes with you, be it the lady knight, the lady alchemist, or the dragon tamer who all want to immediately hook up with Tomoki. But that's not the only seducing going on as Lily romances Tomoki herself to make him loyal to her...and while Tomoki is hooking up with a princess, Makoto is smooching with Mio !

The proper ED! Complete with shots of Makoto and his companions and their daily adventures along with the people they'll meet...including the Heroes and their companions, some blonde guy and a maid (?), Shiki getting his own romance (?), and that group that seem to take lessons from Makoto !

hibiki took the adventure hero route, tomoki took the harem hero route and makoto the tragic but hilarious hero route?

well, it was nice to know them. I'm looking foward to their meeting.

Kinda funny how his eye works fast to snare every woman who meets his gaze... except the princess lol. She told the dude to work up countermeasures, but that was after she already had been interacting with him a bit. Also curious if his eye works regardless of gender; that could be awkward for him

I am curious if either hero will prove to be overly impactful once we catch up to where they are in the present day? Though maybe unfair to compare them too hard to where Makoto was early on. While he did deliver enough firepower to draw Mio's attention...he didn't exactly win that fight either. Definitely did better than Hibiki.

I don't expect much from Tomoki. Not that I'd be doing much better than him in that kind of situation. That eye may end up causing him more trouble than it ends up solving. But I guess we'll see on that front. Even though he managed to drag out even more bonuses from the goddess Plus he may honestly have the worst of situations comparatively with the Princess being the scheming type that will use him for her own gains while not giving a damn about him.

The Goddess seems capable of playing along when she wants to. Putting a much more professional approach to gaining the two heroes she wanted compared to acting like a jerk to Makoto the whole time. I'm guessing even with all the bonuses she offered that she didn't quite push herself that hard. I'm sure Makoto's heritage was one factor, but despite all the stuff thrown to the heroes they don't exactly feel on Makoto's level.

Solid episode that gave those heroes a necessary focus episode. I'm more interested in Hibiki's struggles than Tomoki's...stuff.

If you wanted to get straight back into Makoto's story...well, we're still on this "side Heroes" recap plot .

Hibiki's group and Tomoki's group finally meet in their strategy to defeat the Demon forces, but things are already icy between them...not only because of Chiya's situation but despite their shared background Hibiki and Tomoki just don't get along. Hibiki's not a gamer like Tomoki and doesn't get his references, Tomoki hates anything that reminds him of his past life, and despite Hibiki's best efforts to make polite conversation, Tomoki looks down on her for being underleveled compared to him. So not quite a good meeting between the Heroes .

But at least Hibiki has Naval, probably the most real friend she's ever made in her life, someone she can be honest about and feel like an equal to as Hibiki tells Naval her story and the two show how close they've become. Also, Naval in pants !

Oh snap, they're facing off against a sexy, sensual, demon lady voiced by Yukiyo Fuji! And she already puts the Hyumans at a disadvantage by inciting a trap and making their army fall down a hole! The Heroes' party are the only ones that survived thanks to their magic and ingenuity .

And then they come up against the "mid-boss," Io (voiced by Taiten Kusunoki!) who is a four-armed battle-honed and deadly demon who is more than a match for the Heroes even with their blessings...and then he manages to take said blessings away. And Tomoki, who was relying on his blessing of immortality at night the whole time, loses all his confidence and abandons the fight like a complete and utter coward. Hibiki is much more of a Hero than he is .

Oh look, there's the real Goddess frustrated her "Holy War" isn't going as smoothly as she'd hoped. Serves her right, I guess. But that's exactly why Makoto ended up getting transported to the fight, and fought Sonia, not that that really changed much .

Hibiki's party bravely fight for an entire night, but are hopelessly outmatched against Io. Even Naval sacrificing her life to super-charge herself to try and beat him only makes him enter into his even stronger second phase. And despite going out in a blaze of glory to save her friends and live on in their memories while dying actually achieving something meaningful...she STILL doesn't kill him. It was all for nothing .

So nobody really came out all that well in this fight (well, I guess the demons did even if they don't know Sonia is still alive). Hibiki lost her best friend, their armies have become routed, Tomoki is weak-willed and dancing under Lily's finger, Makoto got severely wounded...though he did recover and now has made it to the school !

"I have to be the teacher!?" Man, this show cannot help the Slime comparisons .

Both Series started around the same time back in 2012-2013 (TsukiMichi started around mid of 2012, while TenSura started a few months later in early 2013).

The Authors of both the Series know the similarity in their Story and have commented how while they are similar, both differ in various aspects.

Both of them have also done joint interview and even stated what they liked about each others series.

Well, in season 1 of a completely different show (just kidding)...things went pretty horrifically bad for the heroes. I mean seriously. That Goddess is a true idiot. Obviously her vanity is her weakness. But wow. She gave up an absolute ace to grab a couple of decent mid-tier options. Sorry to Hibiki, but she's just not on that level and likely never will get even close. Though I guess it's up to her to decide if she's utterly made her life worse or not. Certainly wouldn't have suffered like this if she didn't take that offer.

Honestly I'm not surprised about Tomoki. Got arrogant thanks to his blessing and when that was gone he utterly fell apart. Good thing his girls didn't suddenly lose interest in him while that was going on...

Of course it's all a matter of advantages. Those guys could cancel out the goddess' blessing which is a huge loss. Not like Makoto didn't get his own blessings. It just came from a different deity. Presumably if they could have cancelled out Tsukiyomi's blessings then last season would have gone horrifically bad for Makoto. But how likely will it be that the enemy will be able to cancel out blessings from a deity that they can't possibly know the name of? Maybe not that good?

Regardless, my condolences to go Hibiki. That was rough. Lost her friend and was only further reminded how utterly disadvantaged they are in this fight. Couldn't even handle this guy and he's hardly the only significant threat out there. Better really hope that Makoto doesn't stick to increasingly dislike the humanity of this world. Because otherwise they are screwed.

If nothing else it was a good look at the aftermath of the last fight. Seeing Mio utterly damaging herself out of panicked desperation to save Makoto. He really can't drag things out with these two forever. Not that he has to accept their feelings, but they truly do care. Clearly both of them really had to push themselves to help him after that last fight. That was good to see. Just makes his win actually feel costly.

You forget that those girls are under the effect of his magic eyes which increases affection, and it's not something that would get removed with that Goddess Blessing Canceling effect which is already a limited range affect system.

I was hoping that hibiki got a glimpse of makoto in that battle. They didn't stand a chance.

Makoto, Mio, and Tomoe are all on their individual journey. Makoto in Rotsgard, Mio to learn how to cook more Japanese cuisine, and Tomoe to investigate the site of Makoto's battle with the Dragon Slayer. Hopefully the trio will reunite soon though .

Makoto is seeing the sights in Rotsgard until he stumbles into a waitress getting accosted by some upity academy students...and if they won't pay attention to Makoto, they'll pay attention to Shiki, who turns out to take insults to Makoto as harshly and personally as Tomoe and Mio do, which means it's up to Makoto to prevent Shiki from killing anybody .

These dudes really thought literally floating was impressive? Shiki's Earth Magic absolutely bashes them. Thank goodness for their own sakes that Makoto is lenient and can dispell that magic .

Luria, the waitress in question, is pretty cold and standoffish but she knows to be grateful and invite Makoto for some hot pot where she works...but why was this Illum guy so interested in her ?

You either enter a magic academy as a student or end up becoming a teacher, though not by Makoto's own choice but because of a clerical error by Rembrandt's assistant Will. Get some reading glasses, Will !

Dang, Shiki almost drained the life out of that one dude! Good thing Makoto stopped him and Shiki's opposite redhead number in manners came in and cooled things down, that lady seems pretty cool .

Of course Shiki just HAD to have Makoto get involved in the difficult practical exam that most don't even attempt .

But hey, collecting magic orbs should be pretty simple right? Well, it would be if Makoto wasn't so OP he ends up breaking the orbs with even his most basic attacks. Granted even a simple barrier from Makoto is enough to ward off most threats .

Luckily Makoto finds workarounds to get each orb and even manages to fend off an assassin who was trying to take out all the examinees for some reason...and punt him to the sky, Team Rocket style .

So now Makoto is officially a temp teacher, and his students will probably benefit from his lesson. Though that blue-haired lady has me suspicious .

To be honest I thought too that the objective was the three different color orbs lol.

Fun chapter.
