Darn... those anime crews are getting nostalgic aren't they?
I remember Getter Robo was the first combo mecha anime I watched. First time I saw an anime killing off part of the hero crew as well. Hope the new series would be good too. |

Seriously, though, I've seen the first episode. Very bloody. Very, bloody. In the first scene there's a decapitated head, and it just goes up from there. Should be good. |

For some reason I can't load the front page so I don't know if it's listed there, but Animeskyscraper have released the first episode.

The trend for Go Nagai remakes in recent years is to make them standalones that don't require familiarity with previous series. You can jump right into this one, as it goes back to the beginning, and redoes the whole story from scratch. It's much more faithful to the original Getter Robo comic (than even the first Getter Robo TV show was), and is the most gratuitously violent and gory show to come out in quite a while. This adds up to a metric boatload of awesome, so buckle up.
I'm really enjoying this show, and I'm glad that I pressured ASS into subbing it, and volunteered to get involved with the project. Watching through this show so many times to get the timing perfect isn't as tedious as it probably would be with a less cool series. Episode 2 rocks, by the way. We should have it encoded and ready for release in a few days, but in the meantime...here's a little teaser for ya: In addition to apparently knowing a form of Nanto Seiken, Hayato has reverted to the less-gentle, less level-headed, more COMPLETELY INSANE AND VIOLENT unstable can of woopass he was originally meant to be. Of course, we also get a big enemy, and a taste of Getter Robo in operation, including some old-favorite weapons... |
