You might have just begun, but you're off to a much better start than I ever was, lol.

My main critisiscm, which applies to most of your work, is lack of depth. They are all pretty flat. I'd also say skipping the text, but if you don't want that, you'd have to find something that fits a bit better. Right now it seems to be using the same font over and over which might make a stale impression. You'll have to change it depending on the bg/render and color of the same.

Apart from that, I'd say you have the flow of color down. You know what mixes and such. So yea, mainly depth, perhaps except the second one in CMHerrera's quote. That one works quite well.

I've been trying to experiment a little bit but it's not really working out well. I can't find a decent Mysterious Girlfriend X fanart and I even resorted to just using screen caps. Oh well might as well post these:

This one's from Touch, one of my favorites. Image is kinda LQ but I had a lot of fun playing with it (I don't think my end result looks good though)

Again from a screenshot, this time from Fate/Zero when Saber first used Excalibur.

Still experimenting different techniques. . . I'm playing with blurring, burning, changing levels, going wild with brushes while trying to make it look good at the same time. I do want to play more with Illustrator when I have time but I need to really master Photoshop first.
