Wow.... I actually liked that first episode. I thought this was gonna be gimmicky and stupid, but it looks like (dare I say it?) it actually has real substance.
ZOMG.

Cheetara dont have her sukumizu anymore :'(
Overall, storywise .. better then the original. However, I dont really like the character design overall. Takes times tho... I like Willy Kat design.. but original Kit was much more cuter (current one are too .. moeish?) Few years ago,I tried rewatching the original on youtube, but the charm (maybe because I now viewing them as adult rather then puppy eyes little kid before) was a bit lost, And I feel the same watching the current one as well. Will be watching it for the title, and intrigued with the changes they made so far plot and storywise .. but they have to do something special to evoked the buried feeling of love in me. And Mummra not scary at all.. while watching the original on youtube still send shivers when mumra starts his ancient spirit chant, the current mumra simply made me lol. The attack on the castle made me feel like I'm watching LotR at helms deep .. minus the epic part

The production value for this so far has been fantastic. There's a wonderful amount of freeze frame worthy art, and the animation is smooth and detailed...and omg the music. Even the voice acting is pretty decent. Kit and Kat = awesome.

I think it is interesting to note that while Mum-Ra says the Thundercats stole the Eye of Thundera from him they stole it from somebody else.
The Lunataks? We saw two periods here. The space age and the age of magic. The planet being attacked makes one think of Mars but that moon isn't Phobos or Deimos. So future Earth? The Book of Omens likely has the spell to remove the protection from the Eye which at one point was called a War Stone. Also the Eye may not be unique if we go by the toys and future titles. |

I watched the new series for nostalgia of the old ones, but damn this show turns out to be better than all recent Japanese cartoons out there.
Liking ep 6 so much.. I share the above poster's sentiment, but I'm more inclined about Mumm-ra's actual past. I guess in the past when in the space age he was some kind of galactic warlord who relentlessly conquered worlds, with the cats served as his vassals. You can see resemblance of Mumm-ra's subordinates like Tygus - Tygra and the one accompanying Mumm-ra who looked exactly like an adult Lion-o. I think at sometime in the past the cats betrayed Mumm-ra and claimed the omen stone for their own. Also liking the flirt from Cheetara to Lion-O, she seemed the one who completely trust him despite unfortunately Lion-o still act like a jerk that he is. Too bad about Mumm-ra's getting his ass kicked to him a tad too easy, but at least they showed him to be very powerful and basically wiping all Lion-o's gang. |

Mumm-Ra stole from somebody he shouldn't really have. Silverhawks and Tigersharks are in Thundercats! |
