Go out and grab "Find the Way" sung by Mika Nakashima. It's very pretty.
Of course, there's a gazillion other songs you should listen to, but that one has very nice lyrics especially. It's used as an ending song for the series Gundam Seed, if that helps you look for it.

I agree with Bluemist, just about every song of Kiroro's is so beautiful. All the song I've heard were basically piano and vocal and maybe some drums and such. I believe Kiroro is made up of 2 ppl from Taiwan who now live in Japan. Some songs of theirs I enjoy listening too are
Mou Sukoshi Best friend miraihe Haru no Kaze Itsukara I also suggest music from Fumiko Orikasa, Kayoko and the soothing voice of Ritsuko Okazaki who recently passed away at such a young age.

Kiroro and Changin' my life for sure! Rythem seems pretty good too. Also try:
Kanashimi no Valentine - Nami Tamaki Waiting - BOA Endless Sorrow - BOA Garden - Sayaka The Spirit of this Place - Core of Soul Kujira - Core of Soul Umi no Aurora - S.E.S. Also Garnet Crow is another good band to try out. |

Universal Answer
Actually I can give some suggestions but I see no value in doing that since the thread creator does not even bother to come back to discuss on various suggestions given or to express gratitude to the people who spent their time typing. Therefore, I come out a universal suggestion to the question like "Recommend me some good Japanese songs" as follows.
"Since AnimeSuki is an anime listing site, go watch the anime and in most cases you will be exposed to at least 2 songs, opening and ending themes, and some background music. If you like any of them then go for it. It would be better to hear and to judge whether it fits your taste rather than (uncertainly) picking up from various suggestions. If you do not know the name of the song and where to buy, there are threads that answer or we can help you." Should anyone like to quote my universal suggestion in the future, please feel free to do it.

The song 'Open Up Your Mind' from Saiyuki is quite fun and catchy; I listen to it quite often, as well as the 'Treat or Goblins' by Megumi Hayashibara from Abenobashi.
And though neither song is comforting at all, I'm desperately wanting a MONSTER Original Soundtrack with the OP and ED on it. Wow, those songs are haunting. Especially the ED with the freaky witch drawings. |
