Also, Baccano anime cut way too many important characters and events, it's impossible to make a sequel without retconning the story or just plain ignore the first season changes/cuts.

The 4th ln is my favourite in the series, and hopefully the anime does it justice.

Sucks that Omori isn't working with Brains Base yet again. Doesn't bode well for the studio

Well yeah it was a fantastic anime (one out of the only 5 shows I consider 10s) but you kinda feel like they had no intention of making a sequel. I got no idea on the page totals for the two series but Baccano covered 4 LNs in their tv run (of course they ignored 90% of the 4th novel) while Durarara covered 1 less than that but with an extra cour of episodes....

DRRR was pretty straight forward to continue from what I've been told and with the sales it had for anime and LN it's kinda amazing it took so long. Now I wonder if VAMP will ever get an anime....

And here I thought it would never get a 2nd season. Go figure I loved the first season, so really looking forward to the 2nd one. Might have to rewatch the 1st one just in case. Daaaaamn, this year is looking good!

Yeah I think Ryohgo Narita said that the second season was in production for years now.
Well I heard that 4,5 and 6 volumes are the best parts of the novel so despite the fact that I am no the biggest fan of the first season, I look forward to this one.

If that's true, then at least we won't have to worry about it being a production mess ala Samurai Flamenco.

Finally!! More Celty and Anri! I can't believe it's already been four years since the first season. What am I doing with my life?

I too would rather see more Bacanno, I thought that was the more interesting of the two shows, but Durarara was also rather enjoyable.

Just recovered from seeing the news. Still in shock and complete disbelief. I'm not quite sure I'm actually awake right now. *faints again*

I think I'll come back to this thread when I've calmed down enough to think.

THIS.

Especially when they're probably just going animate 3 novels again anyway. WTF?!
Vol 6 is best definitely best stopping point for the S2 from narrative standpoint for that matter.

hey covered 3 volumes in the last season and I'm guessing they'll do the same.
I doubt it since the first arc of novel has ended, they can rush things to an end like they did in Baccano.

That's the new arc in the novels, not the anime.

This is great news. I've always loved Durarara!! It's one of those few anime where I couldn't pick a favourite character because they're all just so damn awesome. You'd have main characters like Mikado turning out to be awesome influential gang leaders and then you'd have total background characters like that blond otaku guy who almost steal the show completely.

Ten. There's a total of thirteen novels out, and the first three were covered in the anime.

Do any other LN readers think they might end up doing a couple two-cour seasons? If they make this new season from three volumes again, there's that "little" cliffhanger in vol. 6. I'm thinking it would be more appropriate to have vol. 4-8 for this season, and if there's a third, vol. 9-13 for that.

In any case, can't wait to see the vol. 4 characters and beyond animated! They are kickass!

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see more than one season. Shuka seems to have been set up with DRRR as their tentpole project (right now their only project). I think they see it as the cash cow that can be milked to get their studio off the ground.
