Agreed.

They waste a lot of money on small series and when it comes to long time series (or a series with lots of episodes, like Bleach), they just use practically no money (or care) to it. Frontier showed a lot of flaws in animation on the characters. The Valkyrie animation was top notch though.

Maybe what they should do for the next series is contemplate doing the animation for the characters better. They already have the Valkyrie animation down to a science with Frontier, so I hope to see flawless character animation next. (Will DYRL never be seen again...?)

Aquarion EVOL looks pretty damn rad, though. Bodacious Space Pirates... not so much. Although I really wanted that one to be good, some serious space saga would have been nice. But, nope, all moe and comedy.

I was referring mostly to how little they actually work on the characters when drawing the episodes. With a series that has CGI or 3D, they tend to let the characters (or 2D figures) fail. They don't give enough care to them. Macross Frontier is a good show of this, even in Zero I noticed this problem. Aquarion had it too at some points. They need to find level ground.

I will say that SOME Gundam series keep that level... though they tend to have one or two (five at most) episodes where the good quality falls apart.

Sigh no ova this time eh?..

30th anniverssary is just another waste project...more money for kawamori...not much entertaiment for mee

Bluray ver for a 47.000 yen....p==.....u dont really need bluray really...720p is enough already..

C mon...30 yearsspass...and this?

Guess we have to wait until -50 anniverssary until we can get a nice decent macross anime

But im already 50 years old oldman?.wait....no 48 years old...hehe,

Hmmmm i was born in 1984, same as macross

But then why macross is now celebrating 30th anniverrsary while im still 27?
2012-1984 : 27... So 30th anniverssary should be 2014right?

SDF Macross started in October 3 1982, so this October is when Macross will celebrate it's 30th anniversary.

The blu-ray box of the original series is apparently just one thing among others that they will do/launch to celebrate, we still don't know if a new animation (ova/movie/series) is in their plans.
In my opinion the chances of a new animation this year are really low, but who knows, maybe they will surprise us.

I hear ya, man. I mean, it's not like they just came out with a movie LAST YEAR, preceded by a movie in 2009, preceded by a TV series in 2008...

So, uh, if they'd delayed Sayonara no Tsubasa until THIS year and called THAT the 30th Anniversary special, you'd be happier?

I think a sequel series to Wings of Goodbye seems most likely, seeing as how it is the most succesful Macross to date, at least I believe so. I'm hoping for an anime announcement scheduled for 2013, whether it's a carry-on of Frontier or not.

More concrete info that it takes places in 2062?

Focuses on the Macross 29 fleet?

Well, yeah...but remember, this is all very meta. In 2062, the Macross 29 Fleet is trying to figure out what to do for their 30th anniversary since leaving earth.

It's a frame story. It may not end up having much to do with what they finally come out with.

it would be cool if SDF and GUNBUSTER have the similiar concept...

imagine the cause of SDF missing is because, the WARP INSIDE BLACKHOLE PHENOMENON...

the theory is lynminmay, hikaru, and misa is still on the warping process..until now...
because warping while being sucked inside a blackhole, makes a timeline paradox or such...
while warping 20-50 days is equal to 20-50 years in real time...

and then 12.000 years later [about 5 years in minmay timeline has passed...minmay is 30 years old]
...they back to earth after being saved by SORA SAOTOME [sheryl nome and alto saotome bloodline]..and

MACROSS AIM ! EPIC ENDING!

if u have'nt watch gunbuster...do watch!
http://anime.thehylia.com/downloads/series/gunbuster

ONE OF THE BEST ANIME ENDING OF ALL TIME...

Well, that's only three years after the end of the series, in-universe. I smell cameos.

Oh, I hope I am right. <desperately crosses fingers>

It was this:

The big red stamp says, I believe, that the idea has been sent back for revisions. In other words, rejected.

But the idea was to "Teach the Galaxy about Girl Power!" by having (again, I think) holograms of Minmay, Mylene, Sharon Apple, Sheryl, and Ranka showing off their fashion.

I agree, but remember Macross 25 aired in 08 when the 25th year was 07, the project + deculture OVA which aired like dec 26th is what we got that year.

Kawamori's pretty busy this year... Aquarion EVOL will take his attention for the first half of 2012 and than his AKB48 anime starts up in April... so April-June he'll have 2 shows running at the same time. I think all we'll get this year as far as a new anime goes is an announcement.
