It was in homage to Hikaru and Misa since they did the same thing.

It's a homage from the original Macross, where Misa and Hikaru salutes each other too. Hints anyone?

12 people. I was one of them. This episode was a rushed mess of disaster.

Thumbs up

Well, being a non-shipper, I loved this ending. It was all warm and fuzzy SherylxRanka friendship, with a little competition for the guy they both STILL love... It worked for me.

What didn't work was the Macross Galaxy. No one on board? Just a big tool that stands there and does NOTHING? Grace is going to send buggies all over the galaxy to wipe out the humans and yet do nothing with the most convenient weapon she has to wipe out her #1 most pressing enemy, while they are pointing a gun at her? Just too odd... I kept expecting a mano a mano fisticuffs, double daedalus attack or a main gun shootout betwen the two capital ships, but nothing! A quick punch from Battle 25 and its pretty much all over folks... MegaMech pR0n=FAIL!

But don't get me wrong... the battle scenes were sweet! Much flying around and stuff 'sploadin and all... GREAT sweep in and gunz a blazin' entrance for Mac 1/4! And it was really amusing having the Admiral Perry twins just sitting there aghast as Wilder tells them what for... Pretty much the Battle 25 guys were typical layabout government appointees, while Wilder and his Pirates of the Caribbean owned all!

I loved the scene where Alto gets his VF-25 brought to him on a platter and he links to it controlling it with his airplane hand... nice circular detail that. Sort of a bummer it got trashed and discarded in the end. But it fought a grand battle, even getting re-outfitted for the second wave attack. In a way, Alto out Gar'd Ozma, getting all of the best shots in. Much rancorous yelling done by all.

The medley of their hits approach to Sheryl & Ranka's duet battle songs was interesting if somewhat confusing... I mean here they are doing both different songs at the same time as well as singing together on the same song all at the same time... I wasn't sure what to make of it, but the characters onscreen didn't seem to mind much. What I didn't get though was, are all of the Vajra now at the beck and call of Ranka? There's no queen left. right? A big opened plot hole left by that one... maybe the subs will be more enlightening in this aspect.

I did like the way Ranka got to slap Sheryl back to center and then cure her... I was one of many to call that one early, but I didn't expect that she'd simply do a kind of Psychic Surgery movement on the virus... Sort of like "Here you go, you need these down HERE to use them properly.... There you go Sheryl, don't you feel more healthy and powerful instead of DEAD now? OK, Let's sing, shall we?" It was a very metaphysical scene with their astral bodies making things all good... But pretty much Ranka made Sheryl just like her, so does that mean that she can "control" the Vajra in the same way Ranka does now? Sounds like trouble for the populace whether either one gets sad over Alto...

In the end, I TOTALLY didn't get the whole purpose of Blirer in the whole series... I mean the guy never left his train room, had only limited scenes and influence, never micronized, and other than warning Wilder about the folding of SMS into NUNS, did nothing! And then he's looking forward to meeting..... Minmay!?!?! WTF??? Talk about an open ended subject! And people are complaning about the LT? What's with this big Zentradi guy, huh? Can anyone explain why we needed him? There's GOT to be a resolution to this guy in the movie... and this fact leads me to believe that the movie was part of the plan all along.

Anyway, despite all of the dangling participles l really enjoyed this episode and series, but I'd still prefer a second season to a movie. But being a movie I do expect the quality will be kicking hard!

I didn't think the episode was painful but...

....remember...this series had Yoshino Hirokazu as a screen composition writer (of Mai Hime/Otome fame)

The ending indefinitely wreaked of his style but I'll make the final judgement call when the movie comes out. And hopefully someone helps him with the script (LOL, we don't need another Mai Otome Zwei repeat)
Then after that, I just like a good little Macross-head that I am, I will await the next Macross series.

On a different note, find the Japanese reactions somewhat amusing since they have the same WTF reactions.

*waits for raw to finish downloading so she can finally make screencaps*

If the movie is a sequel, Bilrer may turn out to be the next antagonist.

It just might be. I just hope it's done by another screen composition writer.

Already started purchasing the blue rays awhile ago so I might as well finish them off.

In the end, at least Alto still wears Sheryl's "engagement ring" (LOL) in the form of an earring.

damn! I wanted to make that bet! What is funny is that Kawamori is consistant. Even in SDFM when there was a chosen girl, Minmay ended going with the couple in good terms. After that he has follow a pattern and has not deviated from it.

Well...it could go either way.

We could also see the movie done ala Macross Dynamite 7 style LOL.

There are like 4 moments were I just had to lol:
  1. 1. Ranka-chan bitch slaps Sherly
  2. 2. Alto's Valkyrie salutes to Ranka and Sherly
  3. 3. The Daedalus attack and the follow up
  4. 4. Grace's death.
Most likely there's will be more once the subs come out.

I liked the end, but I wished AltoxSheryl ending, maybe they'll get together in the movie.
Aren't Sheryl and Ranka cousins? I was glad Ranka saved Sheryl. Now Elmo can manage both of them they can become a duo like Minmay and Janice. I liked Klan piloting Michael's VF-25S, I think he would have liked it that way. I hope she takes Michael place in Skull Squadron or in the very lease flies with both Pixie and Skull. Though she need's some EX gear that will fit her. For some reason I don't think this is the last we've seen of Grace.

This what I'll like to see in the movie:
Sheryl and Alto together living in apartment together
Ranka, Brera, and Ai-Kun living together in apartment
Ozma and Cathy getting married or at the very lease living together
Monica and Captain Wilder living together
Luca and Nanase becoming a official couple
Cathy for president or Cathy joining SMS
Brera joining SMS
Alto and his dad reconciling
