I want new footage; something not seen at all in the manga. Madhouse is really good at animating sequences not found in the comic. The running animation in the last episode was a great addition. It made the ending feel more epic like it was a journey of sorts.

I hope we see what has been said by another member, people worshipping Kira as a god. But what if the public is never told who Kira really was, maybe they leak fake deaths and treat normal deaths as the work of Kira just to keep the public under control and think he's still out there.

I'd also like to see what really happens to Light and Misa Misa as both of them cannot go to heaven or hell. Hmm so many possibilities.

Man I wish the new episode includes this alternate ending material...

First do the epilouge showing Near as the new "L" or whatever, then have him of Matsuda or someone do a quick recap of the best events in the series and talk about how incredible that Light was under there noses this whole time...Do the "How is the world now without Kira?" with all his supporters and stuff and show if the world is better or worse then do this:

I bet the special is on what happens after Light's death and some explanations of some sort. Like the news said, basically it wraps the end of the Death Note Anime. Possibly it might come or not come from the manga.

I hate to tell you, but Misa's story has already come to an end, as for Light's mother and sister I can only imagine they're in terrible grief, but their love for each other will hopefully keep them from doing anything like Misa.

As for the episode itself, I for one am looking forward to it. I truly love Death Note, but I do question how interesting it can get after absolutely all of my favorite characters have been penned in the dead-book.

Doesn't mean I'm not keeping my hopes up, though! ^__^

The story ends in Volume 12 which includes an epilogue set one year after his death. Then there's Volume 13, a data book titled "Death Note: How to Read" that contained biographies of the characters and came with a card revealing L's name.
