Happy Birthday Battler!!!!!!!!
That's right, today alchemist has just updated new info (in the PS3 page), talking about the Comiket 80, which will be released this August 12 - 13 - 14. They will be selling merch. such as wallpapers, pillows/sheet, bags, and so on. |

Unrelated to the localization, which you should click, ^^^ but has anyone bought any of the PS3 themes for Umineko yet? I really want the outdoor game background transitioning theme, but I'm not sure if its worth it, so I'm just asking for some opinion.

I wonder if Yukari Tamura will voice Erika also... I can see where it would get a little redundant, but she is technically Bern's double. After also just seeing an example video with her other roles, I think she could pull it off.

Chiru has been confirmed for release on the PS3 this Winter !
Plus, Umineko is going portable, with the release of two games (probably PS3->PSP port of EP1-4 and 5-8) on PSP in October and November! edit : saw the info had been in the translation thread after I made the post. Can't hurt if it's here also. |

Quoting/replaying to this from the translation thread:

2. Visual novels still don't sell well here And the absolute biggest reason: 3. The PSP is literally next to dead in the US. |

Well, the recent 999: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors, was quite successful on the DS. Sure, it had more interactivity, but a VN none the less. That is true, the release of the Playstion Vita may outdate the PSP and PSP Go as well, but I still like playing mine as well as 17 million others.

As someone who bought the first PS3 port I can't see my self buying Chiru.
To tell you the truth the voice acting sounded really off for me in the ps3 port compared to the anime and drama cds. Some stuff just sounded way to forced for my liking, I mean I love the idea of Erika and c.o finally being voiced but. I'm not willing to spent $110+ to import something I was disappointed by the first time around. Now if Chiru is put on the PSP I will rethink my statement because importing PSP titles is cheaper.

Seems like I wasn't the only one feeling the same. The problem in the first game was the direction: for some reason, it almost feel like most "non" main characters were reading/reacting in a dull way, which was more or less worsened by a very poor panel of character sprite expressions. At times, even the PS3 voice acting was duller than the anime, which is quite weird if you ask me.
It seems like only Ougon and drama CD were left unscathered by a weird voice direction.

Most of those translations weren't complete or even released. And I'm talking about more the visual novel scene. No fully fan translated game has been licensed without legalizing the fan patch (as far as I know).
Umineko is too niche of a game that they would have to spend too much time on retranslating, on a dying, piracy-filled console. And it's not even out in Japan yet. By the time they are able to release it, the system will be completely dead; replaced by the Vita. |
