Sheesh, that backstory. I really do feel for Kyouma. (Especially since Miyabi was super cute. Poor thing.) There are some interesting parallels they've got going on between Miyabi and Mira -- and I don't just mean personality quirks. Hrmm...

I'm looking forward to seeing what New Tesla really tried to sweep under the rug at Easter Island in the upcoming episodes.

Also... Am I the only one who had to do a double take at this?:

I just... There are multiple problems there.

Episode 7
So we get Kyouma's past here. He fell in love with a girl who was weak and had a disease. The doctors couldn't do anything to save her. The only way to save her was that Mrs Yurizaki made Miyabi her test subject and fit her head onto an artificially made coil powered body. The operation failed as a coil malfunctioned and killed the head along with injuring the doctor. Kyouma, in return for having Mrs Yurizaki work on Miyabi, was made part of the Grendel squad along with Albert and many others. And the day of Miyabi's operation, all the Grendel members, save for Kyouma and Albert, died on Easter Island thanks to a coil going haywire (and that coil was a numbered coil). And so, Kyouma thinks that coils are his enemy and refuses to use coils no matter what.

We learn more about Dimension W here. In the real world, out of many possibilities, only one is realized – the rest of those possibilities become part of Dimension W in the form of energy. The coils extract that energy in the form of electricity to run everything in the world. We saw an instance of th energy from Dimension W going out of control in the form of the lake incident and now we're going to Easter Island where another Dimension W related incident took place which resulted in the island becoming a barren wasteland where there isn't much energy coming from Dimension W. And Kyouma and Albert were witness to that incident (although Kyouma probably doesn't know everything I think).

And we also have the Mira Miyabi thing. The only link between Mira and Miyabi I can think of is that Mira has the body which was meant to be Miyabi's new body. Yurizaki Shido made her head while the rest was probably her wife's creation. The reason for making Mira may very well be that they didn't want that robotic body to go to waste. Or it could be that Yurizaki had something in mind for her. Mira can't have Miyabi's headless body because Miyabi has a grave and her body was to be ditched anyway because she had an incurable disease. The reason behind Mira being made is still largely unclear.

They have also similar personality. She could either be designed that way, or somehow copied.

Nice episode. I see...So we all, except Kyoma, noticed something very important plot in ep7.
Also, the island which is covered by nothingness is the thing we wanted.

Wow! Miyabi was such a cutie! Its real shame what happened.

Though Mabuchi being in a relationship at point in life was certainly surprise. He's such a loner most of time it normally wouldn't cross one' mind.

It's hard to say however what happened at Easter Island had much to do with the accident during the operation. This being an anime though coincidences are rare.

I really didn't expect him to know Seria and (probably Shido) from way back then either. Now in a twist of fate their would be robot daughter has wound up living with him. Small world.

I liked this episode and their explanation of the w dimension and how they draw power from it.

It makes sense because the fourth dimension is time. i remember watching a YouTube series with very interesting take on the 9 dimensions.

my question is: will these coils have any adverse affects on their future? i mean from their viewpoints only one possibility ever happens. but what if they are destroying other realities?
it feels like the places with zero possibilities are the result of the energy flow going the other direction...

Loser already answered that. There can be only one. The other possibilities are turned into energy and stored in dimension W.

No wonder Kyoma hates coils. It killed his entire squad except for Al and killed his fiancee.

And never in my life would I ever see a Lexus LFA in an anime. That was a nice surprise.

He doesn't even remember what happened after he landed... (as said in the episode).

Maybe Al knows, but still haven't shown what happened besides saying everyone but the two of them are dead.

And who knows, maybe the malfunction had something to do with the murder of the Creator and his family.

And as we've seen in this episode, the NT is still trying to think what they did wasn't really wrong at all during the talk with that other guy.
Who knows, maybe NT's "punishing" was just a few year in jail or just a fine... they didn't explain about it, but according to RL and how they handle Police killing ppls, that's how it worked.
Especially since NT controls the entire world's energy source... they're basically the entire planet's "rulers" that can disable any countries energy source at any time they want and no one can do anything about it.

Al certainly knows more than Kyouma at this point. Assuming we don't see him rushing in to try to save everybody later in the eventual continuation of that flashback, he should have been out of the range of the worst of what happened there, and thus most likely has no appreciable memory loss. It's also bound to be the only reason he's still alive. That said, that also means he wasn't there on site, so he only has knowledge of what he was able to determine from his surf sniper position and any data he's cleared for that NT was able to gather afterwards. Still, something is better than nothing.

Though Kyouma, once he remembers, will probably know more than Al.

Episode 8:

Interesting to hear more about Lwai's background story. Same with Salva's dream.

Action was nice with the robots and sci-fi stuff going on. My favorite part is when Kyouma drove his car straight past two armored robots like he didn't give a single fuck. Nice to see Mira play her role too. Quite an enjoyable episode. I might even re-watch this when it re-airs on Toonami.

Oh and I almost forgot, Loser is back! That just makes the arc even more interesting.

Nice to see the other coil collectors in action, America #1 is a super hero in the literal sense of the word and America #2 already started to get rid of the competition.

Mira and Kyoma got quite a bit of sceentime acting as a pair, something that was missing a bit in the previous episodes so no compaints there. My only compaint is waiting one week for the new episode after that cliffhanger.

Episode 8
So we get some Salva and Lwai background. Salva is the adopted son of the African king and won't become king thanks to Lwai coming, but doesn't care about that anymore and wants to have his dream fulfilled. I didn't quite get his dream if it was told that is, but anyway.

Mabuchi, Salva and Loser are related to Dimension W one way or the other. Loser also has some history with coils and Dimension W. He probably lost someone close to him who was a kinpatsu bishoujo and he saw her in Ellie.

So it seems as if everything living in this world is dependent on Dimension W. Easter Island isn't getting enough energy from Dimension W so there is no life there – people are stopped, not dead, stopped, which caused them to die in a way. These people coming here stirred up something and things are coming back in motion. Mabuchi, Mira and the two diggers went through an area of nothingness and were about to die because of no Dimension W energy there.

And what is up with that gay black ball of energy? Lol. Only interested in men. This probably means that the one causing it is either gay or female, and I doubt the gay part. Could have something to do with Miyabi or with the one Loser was close to since both Mabuchi and Loser are here. Or it could have something to do with the Grendels, who were male and the energy ball is a remnant of those Grendels who died and is attacking the males thinking they were also Grendels and ditched them. Or it could have something to do with whatever caused that coil accident.

Lol Mira is starting to get fed up with Mabuchi being rude to her. Poor girl. That bastard just can't see her immense kawaiiness.

Seems like so far everything Salva has done has been for Lwai's sake. He wants to make sure Lwai can be a strong king that can protect his country from the desires of the surrounding countries. Lwai however doesn't seem to be completed on board with that plan though.

The fact that the ball of energy is only interested in men makes me think it might be connected with Miyabi or Loser' wife. It could be seeking out it's significant other.

Kyouma and Loser finally meet again. Wonder how that will go down.

Mira seems to be getting fed up with how Kyouma treats her.

Long flashback, but at least it gives more backstory. Huh, so their African country has unique metal required for coils, was wondering why they were important. And that American "hero" literally has a cape and flies? Well, guess with coils anything goes, like those two diggers with mole hands and a... coil-powered shovel?

Nice to see Kyoma almost casually fighting his way through the island. Was wondering if he still had those special weapons from his Grendel days, but even without, and with most direct attacks neutralized, he can handle those robots easily. Though he's kind of crazy and definitely reckless. Yeah, just drive straight through a literal lifeless void- if that girl had fallen off, that would be it for her. Poor Mira, he doesn't bother to warn her about flash grenades and she's in mid-sentence when they enter the "nothingness".

Creepy island, guess something has changed which is why coils are working again here and there, I was worried that the whole island would be a deadzone so no Mira, but now instead they've got to watch out for the dangerous areas... and killer robots.

Ho, so besides just getting around the island (which could have been done with a car more suited for this kind of terrain per Mira's suggestion) he needed the speed to get through the areas where a high concentration of Nothingness/Empty Space is impossible to traverse. Mabuchi really studied this place thoroughly huh?

Still it's nice to see even someone like him get unnerved about what he might encounter being so close to DW despite what he's experienced so far.

I had the same thoughts when that was mentioned too. I think that sphere might be related to why Mabuchi lost his memories about what exactly happened here. Maybe what saved his life too.

I kind of got the feeling that he's there for a different reason than the rest. Maybe to cover things up. Given the examples we've seen, collectors don't seem to be the most tight-lipped of people, so under normal circumstances, whatever happens there is likely to get out if Salva's plan is successful. There have got to be plenty of the old guard at NT who would love to see Easter Island and everything that happened on it "go away". #2 KK certainly seems discreet enough for the job, and the fact that #1 Captain Super is in the way of doing that job is probably more an incentive than a deterrent...
