I don't know if that actually means anything though. "Body" in English happens to be used both for a human body and for a celestial body, but I'm not sure if there is such a connection in Japanese. My first post in this thread was mostly facetious.

Lacus Clyne as an "Old Lady"
Tanaka Rie as the 49-year-old Watabe Eri in Rinne no Lagrange.
Well, excepting certain loli roles like Neptune in the Hyperdimension Neptunia and Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk-II video games and Kujou Hikari/Shiny Luminous (Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart) in the annual Precure All Stars animated features, Rie Rie mostly performs "mature" voiced characters nowadays. Watabe Eri takes "mature" to another level.

So it seems the really bad CG is only for the transformation scene and the actual mecha will be hand drawn. Which is good cause, what is with that CG quality anyway? GONZO's Vandread? At least that one was excusable for being made 11 years ago (and probably still looked better). But I suppose it's still not so fair to be so harsh on a low quality PV. I did like that music that was playing at least.

Kind of. I haven't liked anything they've done past 2003 (with the exception of Love Hina; XEBEC has nothing to do with the fact that I've always hated that series). Just a personal preference. I don't hate their stuff and I'm NOT saying they're bad -- quite the opposite. I'm just not crazy about their work from 2004 and onwards, is all. |

Just now getting caught up on upcoming Winter 2012 anime.
Alas, I didn't see the PV for this. My initial guess at this (just from the Winter 2012 Anime season preview here) is that it will be a Super Robot show with a female dominated cast likely including yuri subtext. Am I right? If so, I'm totally onboard.

Things I liked:
- great character animation/art - sexy pilot suits - mecha combat Things I'm apprehensive about: - Yet again looks like there's some kind of school setting - Is the cast just another all chicks one yet again? Granted I guess it worked for Gunbuster, but when I see all female casts these days I think more K-On and stuff I don't really like and expect it to be more like the latter since hot bloodedness seems to come at a premium these days. - why does it seems like lately companies not called Sunrise seem to be making a concerted effort to "modernize" mecha to bring it more in line with the sort of things that are popular today...like say umm....cute girls doing cute things and looking hawt (not hotblooded) while doing them in their school uniforms/bathing suits/cat ears etc.? |
