There are five Lagrangian points, and they are the stationary solutions to the circular restricted three-body problem (basically, if two big celestial bodies orbit around their common center of mass, the Lagrangian points are the places in the orbit where a third body, with comparatively negligible mass, can stay stationary relative to the bigger two while affected only by gravity).

I don't know if that actually means anything though. "Body" in English happens to be used both for a human body and for a celestial body, but I'm not sure if there is such a connection in Japanese. My first post in this thread was mostly facetious.

Lacus Clyne as an "Old Lady"

Tanaka Rie as the 49-year-old Watabe Eri in Rinne no Lagrange.

Well, excepting certain loli roles like Neptune in the Hyperdimension Neptunia and Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk-II video games and Kujou Hikari/Shiny Luminous (Futari wa Pretty Cure Max Heart) in the annual Precure All Stars animated features, Rie Rie mostly performs "mature" voiced characters nowadays.

Watabe Eri takes "mature" to another level.

Considering the studio in charge, not bad.

So it seems the really bad CG is only for the transformation scene and the actual mecha will be hand drawn. Which is good cause, what is with that CG quality anyway? GONZO's Vandread? At least that one was excusable for being made 11 years ago (and probably still looked better). But I suppose it's still not so fair to be so harsh on a low quality PV. I did like that music that was playing at least.

I am disappointed at the lack of scenes in space. Where is my space anime, XEBEC?

Other than that, it's kind of as I expected.

Mmm... Seems sort of interesting. Not crazy about the studio doing it, but the PV was considerably better than what I was expecting. Will keep an eye on this.

You're aware that XEBEC has done series like this before, right? With this same director?

That doesn't mean much of anything to me. I personally just don't care for XEBEC. *shrugs*

You don't care for this because the studio do a lot of ecchi anime since Kanokon ?

Kind of. I haven't liked anything they've done past 2003 (with the exception of Love Hina; XEBEC has nothing to do with the fact that I've always hated that series). Just a personal preference. I don't hate their stuff and I'm NOT saying they're bad -- quite the opposite. I'm just not crazy about their work from 2004 and onwards, is all.

because as the info on the show says:

Quote:
Original Story/Production Cooperation: Production I.G
XEBEC is a studio that belongs to IG and I'll quote Arabesque from page 1

Quote:
it's high time Xebec had been allowed to flex it's creative muscle again by being allowed to work on more serious projects rather than ones that Production IG relegates to them because they wouldn't touch them.
The reason you probably don't have a good image of the studio is probably because of that:it takes care of the projects Production IG relegates to them because they wouldn't touch them.
Except this time it seems things are a bit different,IG seems to have given them something more interesting to work on.

Kind of looking forward to this series, if for nothing else the promo makes me think of Gunbusters, and I really enjoyed that OVA.

Just now getting caught up on upcoming Winter 2012 anime.

Alas, I didn't see the PV for this.

My initial guess at this (just from the Winter 2012 Anime season preview here) is that it will be a Super Robot show with a female dominated cast likely including yuri subtext.

Am I right? If so, I'm totally onboard.

I just hope that people who want to watch these anime will probably keep it low to avoid for being dissapointed when the anime releases out.

Things I liked:

- great character animation/art
- sexy pilot suits
- mecha combat

Things I'm apprehensive about:

- Yet again looks like there's some kind of school setting
- Is the cast just another all chicks one yet again? Granted I guess it worked for Gunbuster, but when I see all female casts these days I think more K-On and stuff I don't really like and expect it to be more like the latter since hot bloodedness seems to come at a premium these days.
- why does it seems like lately companies not called Sunrise seem to be making a concerted effort to "modernize" mecha to bring it more in line with the sort of things that are popular today...like say umm....cute girls doing cute things and looking hawt (not hotblooded) while doing them in their school uniforms/bathing suits/cat ears etc.?
