Cyclone Fay

Hey dudes

This is probably a pointless thread, and if it is, please feel free to delete it....but....

There is a cyclone about 100-200 kms away from where I live and it looks like it is going to head straight for me...ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Here's the weather map (I live in Port Hedland)

It is heading towards the end of the cyclone season here now, this is the second one for this season......Apparently it is going to head across the coast either tonight or Saturday morning (the time here now is 1043hrs Friday 26.03.2004)....HOW EXCITING!!

I haven't actually been in a cyclone before...have any of you lot been in seriously huge storms or tornados before and have interesting stories??

i'm no scientist, but to me it looks like the storm is going to stay near the coast, but about 200-250km away, so you should be experiencing gales, that's it.

Sorry to disappoint you dude...

There are cyclones and stuff up here all the time, most of the people here don't worry about them too much until they are imminent....at my workplace no one is allowed to go home until red alert (where it strikes in less than 24 hours) which really sucks...

But yeah....I reckon at the rate that it is going, it's gonna follow down the coast and we are going to get rain for the first time in ages, yayyyy!! The map will be updated in like half an hour so I will see how it progresses....

EDIT: It's 1308hrs here right now...here is the latest map...

Man that stuff is scary. I hate living anywhere where there are constant threats like that that you have to live with; cyclones, hurricanes, earthquakes, volcanos, tornados, typhoons, floods, ect. Here in Seattle we have earthquakes, but nothing ever serious. But of course they love to talk about "THE BIG ONE" that may happen someday, I just hope not im my lifetime.

Good luck, I hope you stay safe!

Hahaha...yeah thanks man......I would rather have earthquakes than have scary storms...like I said before, I have never actually been in one......

Here's the latest...

It's probably going to take out Pardoo, which is a little roadhouse about 150kms from Port Hedland, which is where I live....it got completely wiped out a couple of years ago too.....
